A small chair?

Thanks Gray... I actually meant on the left upper wall. It seems unbalanced to me.

For the curtain area... I think I am going to get a plant. Not sure if a chair would fit. The room is pretty small.

Also... any suggestions on what to do to make my layered curtians look better? Maybe a thick ribbon on the lower part or something to help blend the two length differences? Yes... was trying to save $ and had the off white curtains but wanted something more beige and got all for panels for 40.00 and added them. Now I am unsure of how to bring them together if i even can.

I think you are feeling the tall vertical component of your panels and windows to be the unbalanced factor.

Would you consider switching the bedside tables so that the taller one is to the Left of the bed, and putting a tall lamp on it? And then even perhaps a picture over the taller bedside table to add to the feeling of height?

I think you need to balance the items next to the bed - then work out from there.

IMHO - bedside tables should be the same scale and height, same goes for the lamps. I think the tall bedside table is too tall - it is almost as high as the headboard. The smaller table may be too dark in contrast to your light furniture pieces.

Is it possible to switch the tables? I have a feeling there's not enough room on the left for the tall one, but I think the shorter one would look better in front of the window and the taller one would give more presence to the left side.

As mentioned above start by switching the tables. Take a pic and show us. Take it slow - don't rush out to buy things if you like things that you currently have.

The problem is the dresser on the right holds some my clothes and I need it and no where else to put it. If I switch it to the other side I can't open my closet doors.

I put a tall mirror on the smaller bedside table. I think it helps. I will take a pic later to show. :)

Switching the dresser for the table was my first reaction also. The dresser is too tall for a bedside table anyway - can you place it somewhere else? Also, its height is only drawing attention to the taller curtains. If it was lower, it wouldn't stand out so much. (Pretty room so far, btw!)

Not sure what to do about the curtains other than to cut the bottom/white that shows so that it's more like the "band" on either side. Just so long as they go to the bottom of window trim (and don't end up shorter than the trim). Hard to tell since we can't see the bottom/floor.

You could add a band of fabric(dark brown to match blinds?) to the bottom of the shorter drape.

Take the dark panel off of the curtain. To me it looks odd because it allows the lighter layer to hang below like a too long slip.
You have the dark blinds, and if you just had the lighter panels, I think your room would look more balanced.
Also seconding what others have said about the bedside tables.

Do you happen to have a 3rd matching print? By hanging those 2 matching prints directly over the bed, the bed becomes the center point. If you had enough prints to fill up the space without reference to the bed, I don't think it would feel so off. Maybe identify a mid-point visually and hang prints to the left of it, so the prints and the closet door on the left balance the windows on the right? I don't know, just a thought.

I agree with the other posters, the tall dresser is throwing it off. If you need a table on that side I would try to find a table elsewhere in your house around the same height as your other nightstand that would coordinate and put the dresser somewhere else if possible in the room. I like the beige color curtains but they are too short by themselves unless you hung them lower. Other than that I would go with the white, but not the one over the other, it just doesn't work. I really like your colors and style.

Would you mind putting the tall dresser in front of the middle window? Since you have three windows, having the tall dresser in front will look balanced. I would have nothing on that side of the bed or get a skirted table for the left side and put your small nightstand on the right side.

Ok... sorry got off topic. I moved the dresser as suggested by grandmaof3 and it actually helps that side of the room which was super bare. I can always move it out of the room though. I switched the table and brought in another for the moment to give it a try. I have the same two lamps so I placed them on each table. I think it looks alot better! I need to still find an appropriate sized table but will be patient.

As for the curtains... I am going to buy the same ones that are white but in beige and hang those alone. They do hit the floor.

Now I need to find a rug.. plus many other things.

So.... be watching for yet another post from me.

Could we see a few pix of the rest of the room? It is much easier to help when we can see the whole space and get perspective. That way we don't waste your time suggesting things that don't work.

Just out of curiosity, could the bed sit in the bow? Close the drape on the center window so that would sit behind the headboard.

I have thought of that Les but well... it might be a bit weird. However, who knows! I will let you tell me more once I take some photos of the room so you can see the very odd shape that it is!

I wonder how it would look if you hung a curtain on the left side of the bed even though there is no window there. It would really help to balance things out. Would it be possible to remove one of the panels and mock it up via some duct tape?

Better yet, perhaps someone can photoshop a panel on the left side of the bed. I think it will make it all look planned, instead of the bed wedged into that spot.

In my neighbor they have same problem but instead of doing something else they paint that window with very pretty design now its look like a picture on wall.

I think the curtains are throwing the whole room off. They are too much curtain for this small area and all the furniture. Take them down, and see what I mean. Maybe just window valances up top if you want more than just the shades.

I would stack the two pictures behind the nightstand on the left and put a starburst mirror above the bed. Curtains matching the wall color might be nice, too.
