That's a great tip! A lot of people on my CRF forum do the same, add water to dry or wet food to make sure kitty gets enough hydration. I'm lucky in that my old boys love to drink water, and one loves to dip his feet in the water. If you look at our hardwood floors closely you can see paw prints all over them.

My cat will not drink from his water dispenser (the gravity feed kind), but instead wants to drink the dishpan of rinse water when I wash the dishes. I don't understand this! I am going to start adding water to his dry food.

Many cats prefer toilet water, and ours preferred to drink water from the outdoor pond rather than the clear, fresh water from her bowl.

My kitty Sally (age 17.5) has the beginnings of CRF so I'm always trying to make sure she drinks enough water too. I've discovered she loves her water with ice cubes! She will even lick the cubes!
I love your idea of adding water to wet food, along with joint supplements. What kind do you use? My vet gave me Cosequin, but Sally isn't wild about it. I tried it tonight in her Nutro Senior and she seemed to not notice it as much.

I use a pill crusher and over the counter advanced joint maitenance, crush the pill to a powder and with the warm water and food, always canned. Which most canned foods for cats have a pretty hefty smell. Than a spray vitamin suppliment and mix well. It is very wet, as I use the can for a measuring device to add water. I also periodically add hair ball treatment, but when I do that, I skip the the other two. I know the joint pill are doing something for him, as I ran out and he went without for a week. And did not seem anywhere near as limber. You would not know how old he is by looking at him. It works well for him, the adding of water to the canned food. If I do it with dry the reaction is not the same. He will kind of turn his nose up at it. I tried ice cubes in his water, but it did not trip his trigger. I knew his condition would improve if I could get him to drink more water and sure enough it did. I have found I can even double the water amount and he will still take it. He can be a fussy cat, does not like salmon at all. And seems to like the ground up food better than the chunk or sliced. I know the ground up mixes better with the water. His teeth are fine, so that is not an issue. Hope it works for your cat.

Kitty smoothies work well with kittens who want milk and don't think much of water lol.

Silver2 -- where do you get the joint supplement? As I mentioned the Cosequin is okay, but not necessarily something thats a big hit with Sally. (though it does work better in canned food)
