I think you should omit the white tiles in the colored band, imo it's going to pop too much ; how much of the colored band will you have in proportion to the glass subway field ?

are you picking the colors of the colored band youself or is it pre-set ?

I could see a colored band in black and white and grey ; I think the pink, burgundy and peach will limit you, I would go more neutral.

But color preferences are so relative, if those colors make your heart sing......

The colored band comes in a 12x12 sheet. I would use 3-4 rows of the color. After much discussion last night, we're back to our first choice of grey and white glass tile, but not sure if I should do all glass or break it up with white subway. Here's our choice.

Like the gray, white glass tile. You could lay out a section with white subway to see how it all looks. Think it will look really nice with your granite.

I am answering in this thread because I couldn't get the photobucket to open in your other thread, but I don't think either tile is quite "it".

I understand what you are trying to do with the colored tile: if you want to pull the stain color and the speckle from the granite in, could you do a band of just the maroon?

However, I think the white, the white and grey, and the tricolor maroon/peach are not so great with the granite. They are not warm enough on my monitor, and way too busy, IMO to let the granite stand out. I would look for something beigey that went with the granite and *then consider if an accent that picked up the maroon could be worked in.

I'm not sure about the colors in the first set, but I do like the white glass subway tiles. Maybe wait until the granite is installed & then decide?

Also - just wanted to say, that I've been cooking with the same Frigidaire range that you have for the past week & I'm loving it!!

palimpset - I agree with you there. After much consideration I'm thinking there is too much going on with the choices I've made, besides I have to many opinions at home helping me choose, and its not helping. I posted another choice that may work as an accent piece, but I will definiely wait until the granite is installed.

I think your granite has enough going on without such a busy backsplash. They are too chaotic with your granite and the colors don't tie in. The BR granite is a rosy greyed color, and the black white and gray tile doesn't relate and the lighter colors in it are too cool and blue toned for the granite. The solid white glass is also too cool and blue tinged for it. I would do a classic grayed white subway with crackle or a bevel for more interest and maybe copper liners or accents to tie in the reddish inclusions in the granite. Maybe a bronze color if there's brown in the granite. Would like that better.

That's more classic, calmer, and it won't fight the granite or date your kitchen as much.

I like the last one.

Blondelle - Yes I do notice hints of blue as well, probably not a good match to the busy BR.

Remodelfla - I have no idea what I'm thinking, but yes I had thought of that earlier on when I first started planning the backsplash. Actually, the last picture I posted is the original one I had selected.

I need to revisit the tile store and take a look at other gray white subway tiles, my problem is I haven't been able to find any, maybe somewhere online?

iIt may be my monitor, but the Bianco Romano is a warm grey, almost into the cream. your tiles are a steel (cool grey).

They clash.

Look for a grey that comes with some warm (rose, rust, cream) overtones to it.

I'm glad you are reconsidering mainly because I'm not a great fan of glass tile, particularly small glass. If you are near Atlanta, I would recommend G&L Marble, Floor & Decor, and A&S Granite, although I think all have other locations.

No we're in NJ, but I'll do a search online. I'm planning to visit another tile store this weekend. Our granite is being installed Friday, so I'll have a better idea of what will compliment it.
