Has anyone ever seen...?

A kithcen that has white cabinets but has trim that is stained? We are having white cabs (SW Dover White), a dark stained island, and wood floors also probably in a darker stain, and I think that we should paint the trim the same as the cabinets...but my husbands disagrees and thinks that we should stain the trim to match either the island or the floors (both of which we will be able to pick the stain for). Anyone have an opinion? Pics would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure I've seen several in the Finished Kitchens Blog (FKB).
1. Go to the FKB: http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/
1. Click on the "FKB Categories" link (right side of the page)
2. Scroll down to the "Cabinets" category
3. Look for "Multiple colors/shades of cabinets:"
4. Click on the "Mixed Cabinets" link
5. You will be presented with a list of the kitchens that have mixed "colors"...usually stained & painted
6. Click on the name of the user ("[username]'s Kitchen")
I'm almost certain I saw several instances of white cabinets with dark crown molding. I think there are actually examples of both...where the crown molding matches the cabinets and where it contrasts (matches the darker color (floor or cabinet)).

mariacmp, your most welcome. Since it was 18 years ago and if memory serves me it was around $200 for the chandelier. And somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 for the two sconces. I think I’ll keep it since if I changed out the chandelier I would probably have to change out the sconces as well and they make great bookends. The opening in the living room ceiling to the library above is octagon shaped that’s the reason I chose a chandelier with “8” light fixtures. Best of luck to you.
