kgwlisa, that's exactly what I was worried about - all those cut edges. If Bill V were my tile guy, I wouldn't hesitate, but... Anyway, I think we could afford to use that tile as a field tile, but that's a LOT of green - not sure I want to use that much of such a vibrant color. As for the idea of going modern in the bath, I've thought about it, but the rest of the apartment is definitely pre-war looking and I have no plans to renovate it anytime soon, if ever. There's something I love about period-feeling baths anyway, so I think we're going to stick with that (even if BF doesn't like the English-telephone-looking tub filler/handheld, LOL!). BTW, does anyone know anything about Elements of Design fixtures? They have a ton of really beautiful period fixtures but I'm concerned about buying crap... Here's a snapshot of some tile that I taped to the bathroom wall to try to get an idea of what my original wood-look floor/white subways/glass accent might look like: I know it's a terrible picture, and unfortunately the colors aren't really true, but I really like the blue-green tiles on the right with the faux wood and white (they're much bluer in real life). They look great with chrome fixtures, too. I think I'm going to go ahead with this color combo - I just need to decide whether to use the glass tiles in mini-subway size or 1x1s. I'm also going to browse a bit more this weekend to see if I can find something similar in a ceramic tile. Wish me luck!

Isn't it gorgeous? I actually got a small sample of it from Dal-tile, but the sample has pale green, cream, light mocha and medium mocha glass tiles mixed in with varied cream shades of travertine, so it really pops beautifully. Unfortunately, THAT color came in at $50 a tile, which is just stupid crazy expensive, even for an accent. I couldn't find a bargain on that exact color, and believe me, I've looked! I'm going to be so over budget I can't justify the expense, so when I found the same tile (albeit a more neutral color) for such a great price, I was all over it. Same question, though. Does anyone have any experience with cutting this? Durability? My idea to remove the glass pieces from the edges and substitute with the travertine to avoid the need to crazy glue every cut edge? Too labor intensive to expect my tile guy to do?

(seal first? or put on wall first?) Either or. It'll go quicker if you seal once they're on the wall. You just have to make sure you put plastic down on the grante, especially if you want to use an enhancer. Seal with something like Stonetech impregnator pro (is this an enhancing seal?) Impregnator Pro is only a penetrating sealer. If you want to enhance the stone, use the Enhancer Pro. I think I need to use 1/8" grout lines since my little glass accent tiles are actually a bit bigger than 2" (so they'll have almost NO grout line around them. IS THIS OK?? You're going to have a tough time with an 1/8" grout joint and tumbled marble. You might want to open that up just a bit to 3/16. That little extra will make a big difference with respect to the sizing of the tile. Grout, being careful to clean it off the surface of the tiles before it dries. (How careful do I need to be on the glass tiles?) It should be fine. do I need to build the wall up a bit with something else, If there's that much of a hook at the end of the wall, it wouldn't hurt to float the end of the wall with a little thinset before you begin the installation

Kcmmc23- glad to read that you are moving right along and liking the progress. I remember we were both looking into tiles at around the same time. I did order mine before July 4, got them in mid July, and am now waiting for installation. It was to have been started yesterday... but our guy is backed up with his current job. (we really like him and he has done most of our work. he is just not great at estimating time, but we can deal with that because he really does nice work and is very good to deal with). so maybe next week it will be started. you must feel so accomplished. Please post photos when you are done!
