Front entry door purchase

I have selected a fiberglass entry door (black) with 2 full size panel sidelights on each side of the door and a transom window above the door. Very traditional. The door will be solid black and the sidelights/transom will be a beveled glass using a brushed nickel caning(sorry,not sure what the metal support of the decorative glass is called). My question is regarding the lockset finish. Brushed nickel to match the caninng? And what about the interior side? My interior door hardware is all shiny brass! I could go with a black nickel finish. Some lockset companies allow you to choose different finishes inside and out. Thank goodness I am not building a house--all these decisions are overwhelming.

I just went through the same thing...but I worried about my oiled rubbed bronze faucets with pewter door hardware...designer says it's fine! It's only in 2 bathrooms.

My interior and exterior hardware is all pewter. I think you should go with the brushed nickel.

Have you looked at Simpson doors? That said, there are so many variables: style of architecture, exposure to the weather, stained or painted, glazing (in the door, side lights, transom, some or all of the above), security, accessibility, etc. After you select your door, you have to select your hardware! Have you looked at Schlage?

I hope the walkway planned is at least 4’ wide. With a white house, I think you could really play with a front door color. You need a landscaping plan and the plants can echo the door color.

I think even replacing the glass with a plain glass would help - probably something frosted or some other treatment for privacy. I wouldn’t paint as the wood looks great with your floors. Getting rid of the flowery design would be first for me. A local glass business can do this.

@Mark Bischak I tried to send you a message but it would not go through. Because of where I live, I have not been able to find doors for my entry. I have talked to two dealers in Wyoming and they said because of the wind (and red dirt) and winter winds here that I should not get double entry doors. The space is 96" h x 72" w. I wanted the 42" w or 48" w and thought about doing a window on one side. If I do a solid door and sidelight I want it to have a 1/3 lite but I can't find any. My covered porch is 11' wide x 6' deep. The space for the doors is a little over 7' wide. Sorry if I should have done my own post.
