At Christmas time, I made something that had icing sugar, peanut butter and graham cracker crumbs,and I think margarine, rolled them into balls, chilled them and then dipped them in microwaved chocolate. I'm just venting here. She reminds me of Johanna, who we hosted last year, only 100 times worse. Johanna's family was well off and was kind of self centered, expected everyone to do her laundry, get her drinks etc...mostly Maria, our other exchange student. They had a maid at home because her parents worked long hours out of town. She was a slob too and at the end it affected her and Maria's relationship. Maria was always cleaning up her messes. Liza is 16 and will be 17 next month. Talking to her via e-mail before she came, she seemed so mature and level headed. The coordinator, me and Liza did have a meeting last month and I told Liza I was considering having her find somewhere else to live. That's how bad it was. We went over the rules again. Her coordinator from the main office called me too, but I was driving with both girls at the time and couldn't talk to him. I tried calling back but didn't get an answer. Then got busy working, etc... She is from a single parent home, mom is a pharmacist and she is used to getting whatever she wants. She has expensive things and likes to shop at the mall every chance she gets. I don't worry about her stealing from me because she not only gets scholarship money from CIEE but has personal credit cards from her mom. She was shocked when I grounded her after the lying/party thing. She said she's never been grounded before. She also said that it was ok with her mom if she went to parties not supervised by adults. And no, I get no money for hosting them, just a little tax credit.

I've been signed out because this site did not work well on the phone so I'm back finally now on the pc, anyways yes as far as the native pines, my property is a native pine lands of 76 pinus elliottii var densa, soil is a p.h. of 6.0-6.5. I have the native pines all planted, (pond, loblolly, sand, spruce.) except for shortleaf pine I have in a pot not yet planted out, and my longleaf died due to flooding. I also have a native bald cypress planted and a juniperus virginiana var silicona. I did try a Florida torreya growth was good and it was healthy, but it too succumbed to flooding, that out of season wetness killed a lot actually, the 2 already mentioned and a newly planted Calocedrus decurrens, and a newly planted Pinus canariensis and some other non coniferous plants. I had a pond cypress that was killed by a branch. The only native conifers I haven't got to try yet is Chamaecyparis thyoides var herryae and if I can find a Florida source I will, and also Florida yew which is hard to get. Yes most of these I originally have tried are exotic and mostly from a entirely different climate which is by design, I just like to torture these things and see what the absolute limits are. When I get a chance ill update on which ones are still growing, and others I'm trying.
