Xenon lighting will give you more light, LED lighting will last longer and have less light. Choose a fixture based on your application needs and don't buy the cheapest thing you see. Select a fixture with a good warranty offered at a reasonable price, with the amount of light you need, from a source that will be there to help you if you should have any issues. A good quality fixture will pay for itself in the long run. Some of the DIY stores change fixtures very often. By purcasing a good name brand product, you will have a better chance of replacing with a like fixture should you ever need to. There is no one solution. Bars that are self contained are easier to install while individual (puck styles) can be more affordable and sometimes create more drama in a space. Think about the installation issues and choose a product that best suits your needs and budget. Remembering that the cheapest is usually not the best choice. Kichler makes the best xenon undercabinet light in my opinion. I sold thousands of these from my showroom and had almost no issues over many years. Quality does matter. Kichler is sold in Lighting showrooms and on-line. And no, I do not sell Kichler on my web site. This is just my professinal opinion.

We found it helpful when considering this choice to think about the color of the lighting. Fluorescents are "cold," and will not show the true color of your countertop or backsplash. That may not be important to you, but if you're installing $$$ granite or quartz, please spend the extra money on LEDs so you can enjoy your beautiful surfaces and appreciate their true colors. We chose Kichler LEDs for our kitchen and put fluorescents in the DR (because we don't spend a lot of time in there). Our LED UCLs are now failing (18 months after installation) and our lighting provider has agreed to provide replacement fixtures (but not installation) for free. I'm more than a little annoyed, but still love my LED UCLs.

I used Kimberly triple brights with dimmers above counter and on a high shelf. They are on dimmers. I used GM larc bars under cabinet. They work well but you need a trim piece to make them invisible I saw a post of a really thin version but can't remember who posted it.

Here's a pic showing the reflection of 3000k LED tape through a diffuser. The light is nice and even, and in the reflection looks almost continuous. When you look at the lights, you can see the individual diodes, but most of my lights can't be seen normally, unless you stick your head under a cabinet. Where I use tape light for up lighting, I don't use a diffuser, and the light is still nice and even.
