Mystery of the 'clogged' drain, solved!!!

As the original poster of "new bathtub drain clogged", I want to let anyone interested know what the outcome was. First, the contractor came back with a different plumbing outfit...they used a camera, snaked the clean-out, snaked the vent on the roof..and none of these things indicated what the problem was. Finally, they discovered that the drain was connected to an unvented pipe that was in the logical place to make the connection. The new bathtub is in a masterbath addition constructed by the original owners 10 years ago. Evidently, the owners at the time did not do the plumbing as well as a "real" plumber would, and "mickey-moused" the pipes. The drain is now connected to a vented pipe. No tearing up tiles or jack-hammering done as there is an access panel to do all the corrections!! Best of all, our wonderful contractor did not charge us a dime (which is right). All's well that ends well!! Thanks all for your feedback. Susan
