I've been an IT guy since 89 and found out about the Net from a friend at UConn in 90. My first ISP was Escape which turned into Mindspring. I was still using a non-graphical brower (Lynx) when I first came across this site. Things were happening very quickly in those days! Either Painterart joined a lot earlier than he thinks or I joined a lot later than I think but my sense of things is that I was here ~92. I was still visiting rec.gardens.orchids quite a bit but gradually began to realize that I had more to contribute to GardenWeb. I tried the odd compact flourescent in the mid 90's and I had tubes for a while in 99/2000 but I didn't get my first real set of lights till 2001, three 160W Wonderlites. I knew well before that that if I had lights the winter die off's would end or at least lessen. That proved to be very much the case and I have written hundreds of thousands of words to that effect in the six intervening years. Rock on, everyone. H

It is always a treat to hear David speak whether on horticultural topics or anything else for that matter. The first time I met Senor Bahia was when he was doing a slide show talk for the Succulent and Bromeliad Society at the Strybing Arboretum. He was showing gorgeous slides of places that he has traveled to that were jammed packed with 'succulent' horticultural treats. I have since heard him speak at various horticultural events sponsored thru the California Hort Society, On the various Hortisexuals tours and events , at the Arboretum and in writing here on The GardenWeb. He is an excellent speaker and when using slides to illustrate a point , they are beautifully composed and in perfect focus. He is considered "The" Horticulturist's Horticulturist. While on the last Hortisexual trip down to L.A., he was the most sought after person in our wild and crazy group for horticultural identification. And that says a lot considering whose who in that group.. Somehow I imagine all sort of oral hygiene issues with a denture implant. Food invariably gets underneath the denture and only removal and cleaning will properly remove it. Are these at all removable? I am looking at a lower partial denture. I still have a few solid lower teeth left for the partial to be anchored to due to bone deterioration. Implants under those conditions are not advised, as per the problems Aprile's DH experienced. Not to mention that they are hugely expensive. Bad teeth are my only physical/health issue. Mostly inherited but partially due to poor care on my part (very bad early dental experiences). Every time I visit my dentist he says "here comes the shark lady" as I once made the comment to him why humans couldn't regenerate teeth like sharks do - lose one and another pops into place. Oh, I wish!!
