Tiling Wall Behind Toilet
Comments (9)Thanks bj and bill. I'll check tomorrow for your photos. My home is 100+ years old. This is the very first time I have ever done any remodeling, replacement tile yes, but this bathroom was gutted completely, due to poor original design & construction. It had been drywalled & tiled over, badly, with plain white 4 x 4 tile, on the floors, ceilings and walls. The other two bathrooms have the same tiles on the walls, both to 3/4 height. The kitchen counter and backsplash are also the same tile. That can't be normal... So we want to do this one right. Is bullnose tile customary around a frameless shower? We were told no by a contractor we know, dh says yes. Would the bullnose be used around the tile on the wall behind the toilet? Thanks again for any guidance, much obliged....See Moreis there a space between the toilet tank and the wall behind it?
Comments (3)Toilets come in different "rough in" sizes. The typical size is 12", but there are also 10" and 14" sizes. Many Toto toilets have "unifit" adapters in those differing sizes. Measure from the center of the drain hole in the floor to the finish wall (tile, drywall, beadboard, etc.) to find the size you need. Our Toto is a 12" rough in size and has about 3/4" between the tank and wall. 2.5" is way too much, especially if the space in front is tight. Sounds like you may need a 14" rough-in piece......See Moredripping sound
Comments (2)When you look in the tank, is the water level at the top of the overflow tube? If so, it could be that the fill valve is bypassing enough to give you your slow, irritating drip after it raises the water level high enough....See MoreLoud gurgling sound from Jacuzzi drain when toilet fleshed
Comments (20)The consensus is obviously that there is a venting issue and I fully agree since other than the noise there seems to be no other problems like clogging or even slow drains. Yet it seems to unblock a vent is the same procedure as unblocking a drain and in fact it seems to be somewhat easier in many cases since there is easier access to vents in many cases. So I am puzzled why someone has commented: "Sulfuric acid won't fix your problem". I am asking this only for the sake of curiosity and not to actually wanting to use the sulfuric acid. If sulfuric acid is used to unclog drains why can't it be used to unclog vents? Thanks for your enlightening comments....See Moreklem1
