Paint color for master bath and bedroom - are yours the same colo

OK, now a question re. the master bed and bath. I plan to have the MBR painted in a BM green. Should i go with the same green in the master bathroom for continuity? Should i paint a different color, taking into consideration the sun exposure (east and south facing windows, so very sunny i the morning, darker mid-day and evening. I know they should blend, but I guess a safe bet would be to use the same color or a shade lighter, right???

The same could work, so could a lighter color, so could a different color (ok that's not the answer you wanted LOL). Actually you should look to "flow" but that flow does not have to be acheived with paint color on the walls alone.

My master and master bath are two different colors, but the base color in the MB is the same as the ceiling of the Master bedroom. The trim is the same, and we have accents in the bath from the bedroom color. The flow is acheived in tones that are the same or similar...but not at all with the same color. The exact same color in my bath would have been too dark. I did have to take lighting and room position into account and while the deep tone works well in the bedroom...it would have been a cave in the bathroom.

Note....if you want flow...paint your walls the same color as the cats...then wherever they go, you have "flow" heh heh

I don't think so.......at least I don't have the same color in my MB room. The MBedroom is Devine Shade (dark tannish) and the MBath is a rusty red. They're similar in tone and color of accessories, but they're definitely not the same.

I did the master bath 1 shade lighter than the bedroom. Both of which are green and I love it. The toilet area is separate from the larger part of the bathroom and for some crazy reason I decided to do that a different color! Personally I love it - plus that area is so small I could easily change it to green in no time at all if the desire ever came over me.

Thanks! Great ideas here, as usual. Cbusmomof3, love your daughter's room - such light and airy colors! Yes, I think for the boys baths, the beige is just the easiest and most versatile when it comes to shower curtains, towel color, etc. Since the granite is gallo ornamental, I think a neutral color would also just suite the room best. Now for my master, I do think they will be the same color. NOTE - my youngest son wants a Star Wars room and he wants it to be blue. I think it'll be fine to have a blue bedroom and then a beige adjoining bath. Now to pick all the paint colors..! :) I'm such a Benjamin Moore girl, and my builder will only use Sherwin Williams. Hopefully they can color match well! Many thanks!

This must be a common dilemma. Our master bathroom has china black marble with carrara marble base cap. The walls are painted RL silver candle lite which is a pearl like silver. The cabinets are stained wood as is the window so there's a bit of warmth in the room. The master bedroom is going to be done in jewel tones with a RL gold candle lite ceiling. To help bring cold and warm together I used jewel tone towels in the bathroom.

What do you think about using one paint color, then get the next lighter color on the swatch as the other color or is that boring? Do you think it's better to go lighter in the bedroom and darker in the bathroom or vice versa? THanks!

Thank you so much Cherri for you sweet compliments! I wish you the best finding the perfect paint for your house....I played it safe also when building 6 yrs. ago and went with Ivorie thru out the downstairs public rooms and bedroom bath. Later changed the DR to restrained gold and the bedroom to mannered gold. then just this past Oct. changed the LR to raspberry red. I think you get more comfortable in your home the longer you are there and are willing to take more risks. Now I wish I had painted Mannered gold in the FR which is a 22 ft. ceiling room...ha! The Ivorie is staying for now until DH decides to hire a painter....LOL! But go for it if you are building....once blinds are up, furniture is in , pictures and art are hung.....the paint colors tone down. I especially love the mannered gold. It made the tones in our bedroom furniture seem much richer. I left the bathroom Ivorie since gold isn't my color in clothing shades and was afraid it might make us look sallow or jaundiced in the bathroom. We had thought of wallpapering it buy life gets in the way sometimes and projects get put on hold. But the deeper shades on that paint strip, restrained gold & mannered gold are very pretty colors. The only question I would pose is whether you want a green bathroom or not. There are colors that are compatible with green (for instance light blue, navy, cream, white just to name a few), but it also depends in what manner your bathroom connects to your bedroom. If there is a clear division then in my opinion you can choose other colors or, if you wish, a lighter version of green. Imagine the color you really want to have and work with that idea.

I had my Master Bathroom painted the same color as the Master Bedroom in Ralph Lauren's Deep Cream matched in BM's Paint in a Pearl Finish and I had to change it in the bathroom since the lighting make it look like it clashed with the bone sink and jaccuzzi and taupish tiles. I painted it a shade deeper with less lemon in it (BM Navajo White in a Semi-Gloss finish) and the bathroom now looks so nice and inviting. It amazed me how that tiny change could make me love going in my bathroom again. Hence, sometimes the lighting is slightly different so you need a paint a lighter or darker shade or a slightly different color or even a different color too look good in a different room.

They don't need to be but I personally prefer it that way. They should at least coordinate and I think you need some of the same elements in both rooms. I don't like matchy-match, but they should coordinate. For instance, the shower curtain in our masterbath is the same fabric as a pillow on our bed (I love fabric LOL). Hope that helps.

I was going to paint my bedroom a different color than the bathroom, but couldn't come up with a color I liked better. I used BM Gray Wisp (aka RH Silver Sage). It looks a tad different in each area because of the lighting. I used the same fabric in the window treatments in both rooms so for me, I didn't want the rooms to look separate, but just an extension of each other.

I really like the idea of using colors that are adjacent on a strip for MBR and Bath. I've got samples hanging on the walls right now of BM Palladian Blue in the Bedroom and BM Wythe Blue in the Bath, and I'm about 90% certain that those colors will be the ones. Also looking at the SW Strip that has 6211 Rainwashed and 6212 Quietude-those look very close to the Palladian and Wythe but they seem to me a bit less intense.

We have BM crown point sand (tan with just a touch of green) in masterbath and BM Indian River in the bedroom (a little darker and a touch more gray)

I think you can do whatever you want. I like to mix it up so I did not choose to do the same color in both rooms, I chose a shade darker for my master bath. At the same time, I dont think its wrong to paint different colors as long as they flow together or compliment each other.

My master bedroom and master bath are different colors. The bedroom is in a restful color and the bathroom is more a time to get up, rise and shine color. But they blend well.

our MB is a med green and MB is 2 shades lighter on the same strip (ragged on)/ I think they compliment each other so well

My bedroom is a pale, calm green and my bathroom is a soft, buttery yellow. I didn't want a green bathroom AND I didn't want a yellow bedroom so there was no way to match, at least for me. I do like when colors are lighter or darker on the same strip in adjoining rooms but I don't think you HAVE to do that. I flow my rooms with trim and window treatments and other accessories matching. I like color though.

Is it ok to paint the Master bedroom and master bathroom the same color? The Master bedroom is white pixel, and I think it will be perfect for the bathroom also (currently too dark) since it has white cabinets and I like to add nautical accents. thoughts?
