home decor stores in Florida

I'm in Florida and I'm looking for some stores for bedding. A couple years ago we were at several around Naples and I wasn't looking at that tiem. Anyone live down in this area and know some???? They were stores like Homegoods. Not Marshalls or TJ Maxx.

We have a Linen Source Outlet here in Tampa. Also Home Goods, Steinmart, Kohl's and Tuesday Morning. Are these something like what you're looking for?

I live less than a mile from that store--have been watching it get set up for weeks now since I drive by the intersection frequently. The entire exterior is clad with wood planking for lack of a better word, and it's been amazing to see workers literally putting the stuff up board by board on a huge storefront. For that reason I assumed it was another entry in the all-too-familiar South Florida chi-chi uber-expensive design boutique mode. Will have to go check out it out now, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for posting this. I love FLW and his Usonian houses! By any chance did this one have the dropped rangetop in the kitchen, completely lined in stainless? I was so impressed with that, I really wished I could duplicate that in our home. Even my DH, who isn't as much a FLW fan as I am, thought that was a terrific idea. Such an interesting precursor to Mid-Century Modern. I think my whole (amateur) interest in architecture and interior design comes from a tour of the Robie House when I was a kid. I looked up at the indirect cove lighting using early fluorescent tube lights and thought, "Wow, that is AMAZING!" What a difference from the "one single fixture in the middle of the ceiling" that all our apartments had, back in the '50's and '60's. The Robie House is a multi-level urban home. There are no window coverings, because none are needed. The window glass is slightly angled, and there are built-in brick "awnings" integrated into the design. Nobody can see in, even at night! I really love how he used woodgrain as part of the overall design. A brilliant, brilliant man. If you ever visit Chicago, there are several FLW tours, including the Oak Park area where many of his designs remain.

Foxes Pad, I don't go to home stores often (usually antique stores) but when I dare to step inside one everything is greige or beige. I. Am. So. Tired. Of. That. Look. Please, for the love of everything decorating-holy, move on! My father was a designer and had furniture stores since before I was born until 1980ish, and his father before him had a furniture factory until it burned down. The stores were set up as Pal described, but changed often (with the exception of draperies). People could buy off the floor (all floors) or custom order. He went to market twice a year and ordered whatever whenever in between to keep inventory. The last store carried a high price point, but also a variety of price points below so almost anyone could find something. He retired after discovering he could rent the building to another furniture store and make the same money without having to put on a suit daily. So he went from retail to commercial real estate overnight and never looked back. Now, one locally owned furniture store in our area is mostly full of gaudy ornate pieces that look like they belong in Vegas or a bordello. Sad times for those looking to buy modern or traditional pieces. The other carries the greige phase. Actually a new store opened about six months ago and I finally went in at DH's insistence - more greige! Even the accessories in the last two stores are monochromatic with no appeal to me whatsoever. None of my friends buy this and neither do our three adult children, so I'm not sure what age group is buying the bulk of it. The internet has changed the way we shop --> seek, compare, order. Granted you're taking chances if ordering a sofa you haven't sat upon before clicking the button. But isn't it easier to explore the 15,000 lighting options from the comfort of your chain while wearing pajamas and no make-up?! I don't really read blogs. I do look at one a friend writes now and then (she's currently remodeling a house) and I like to read Atticmag, which is really not a blog. I also avoid Apartment Therapy (nothing new there) and recently unfollowed House Beautiful on Facebook (articles I clicked through to read taught me nothing). As someone raised in a furniture store, it is quite depressing.

Most of my "local" purchases for bedding were made at Homegoods. I also have a few sets of the 500TC Sateen sheets in plain white from BB&B. I bought quilts and duvets either up north (Pine Cone Hill) or on line (Garnet Hill). Oh, I did get one duvet from the Restoration Hardware clearance table...

As for home decor stuff in general....most of mine came home with me from up north at the end of the summer. I never did find a place with interesting accessories that suited my taste/budget in Sarasota.

Hi, I am in Ft Myers and we now have TJMaxx,Homegoods,Tuesday Morning,Kohls,B&B and Steinmart. At the Edison Mall we have Penney,Macy's and Dillards. Hope this helps,not sure where you are in Florida.

I returned from Naples, FL about a week ago. There are both HomeGoods and T J Maxx stores in Naples on route 41. What follows is the HomeGoods location. There is also an absolutely beautiful bedding store on 3rd street in Naples. Nice to browse and get ideas.

Thanks everyone. None of those are the store that I'm thinking about. BUT we are in Siesta Keys still and heading to Key Largo tomorrow so we will head down 41. DH said we can shop tomorrow morning. The GPS is so great for finding places.

Do I want to sit in the sun OR go shopping???? That's a hard decision.

If you're on Siesta, there's a Yves Delorme up on St. Armand's Circle, not more than 15 minutes away.

There is also a great bedding/home decor store called Sarasota Collection Home Store at 622 Central, just north of Fruitville, a few minutes from Whole Foods. It's in a "transitional" neighborhood, but quite safe. It may just look a little sketchy. The owner is a great guy and the bedding will make you swoon. Be sure to look at the outdoor furniture out back...lots of fun.

If you're in downtown St. Pete, there used to be a store on the main street facing the water, across from the museum that had some nice bedding, French candles, etc. There is a restaurant and a couple of galleries there as well. It is on the street perpendicular from the Vinoy.
