Would this work for my living room

Hello, I just move to a new house and would like to furnituring my living room. My dinning room is adjacent to the living room with traditional mahogany dining set. The walls for both room are antique white, with hardwoold gunstock oak floor. I am thinking for the living room, I would use a 3-seat dark brown leather sofa,

a leather arm chair (http://www.broyhillfurniture.com/index.asp?Action=ProductCatalogItemDetails&CollectionID=1339&CategoryID=14&ItemID=6490),

then add another fabric arm chair to compliment the room. For the fabric arm chair, I am thinking a wide stripe one like Broyhill recliner (http://www.broyhillfurniture.com/index.asp?Action=ProductCatalogItemDetails&CollectionID=31&CategoryID=15&ItemID=4188.)

Would this work? Also, I have a set of dark cherry queen anne coffee table and end table sets, can I use them with this design, or I should get a more bulked coffee table?

You have lovely things. Yes- as you mentioned, the chair in a neutral color would be amazing. Some end tables in cherry would work beautifully with your rug/ entire room. Optional- you can get an additional throw pillow that's already on your sofa for the new chair. It will "tie" the whole look together. Have fun and good luck.

The wall color is SW Ramie. The chair was my grandmothers, and it is just sort of a placeholder right now. I have been searching for new chairs. I would really like to get 2 chairs, but I am unsure how to arrange everything. I would also like to get a new rug--I've been coveting a real hand-knotted forever. The current rug is very nice, 100% wool Couristan machine woven. It is in the same line as My3dog's lovely living room rug. They have been selling this line of rugs in the last year at Tuesday morning for less than half price. It doesn't come off quite as pale in person. I want to eventually move it into my bedroom, where it will be perfect. Does anyone have recommendations for a rug? What color scheme? I really like some of the orientals that are a bit more modern without a really tight or busy pattern. Something maybe like this: This rug is from Williams Sonoma home, and is way out of my price range at over $2K. Is it possible to get a hand-knotted for around $1K? I need at least an 8x10.

I love your inspiration room! I think it will be great in your room. Here are two other unasked for suggestions. I would never darken your beautiful floors, and I would remove those blinds, especially if you are doing white walls. Those kinds of blinds might work in some very rustic spaces but not in a beautiful home such as yours.

Would wainscoting all the way around the living room work?

IMO, the wainscoting is too low for the room. It is chair rail height, which I would expect in a dining room. I remove the applied strip and paint the wall as the others are painted. Have you thought about rearranging your furniture? If the rug is not square turn it so the long side is parallel to the fireplace. Face the sofa to the fireplace and put the chairs on either side of the fireplace. I think the large console would look great backed up to the sofa; the black console again the stairwell with lamps.

Hi,
I've owned leather livingroom furniture for the past 18 years. I would NOT recommend spending that much money on your pieces. The tanning process of split cowhide leaves only the top surface dyed, so when it stretches, wears...it cracks open with the gray underneath color. OR....if really soft it grease stains and stretches. Leather is wonderful because it looks good and does not asorb dust, dirt, etc like cloth. Take a look at this sofa...

i own leather furniture in our family room, and althought it does scratch ..i don't find a problem with it..the cats have dug it up a little, but when you use a leather cleaner and restorer the scratches don't really show that much, a lot nicer than if a cat had torn up a fabric piece..then i would have had to reupholster.

i also would like to see the photos posted on here..if you can..

I think the set you've chosen would look lovely but I don't think the Queen Anne style tables would work. I'd like to see something with some wood and some texture. A round or oval coffee table would look nice to compliment the squareness of the furniture. Look for earthy tile, rattan, etc. I love your choices.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I haven't taken any pics of the dinning room yet. Will post when I have it.

How's the quality of JcPenney furniture? Maybe I can switch to the follow combinations? I am thinking about getting the sofa and the club chair. They are really good prices, if they can last at least five years.

We bought a bed from J.C. Penney several years ago and I really like it a lot. They do have fabulous prices on their furniture. I have my eye on several pieces.

The JC Penney pieces shown are "down" wrapped.....excellent!!! Should last 12 years easy!!! I ordered patio furniture from them off their site last summer, when it was discounted more a week later they refunded my credit card for the difference. Then Google to find if there's a JCP coupon code that gives free shipping or a percentage off your entire order. :0)
