hi, please somebody help!! my kitten is about 8 months old now, she constantlt meows, allllll... the time, its driving me crazy, i noticed her scratching her neck and head area alo, non stop actually. now there is tufts of hair pulling out from the scratching and its crusty and scabby. i cant figure out whats wrong with her, i cant afford to take her to the vet for at least 2 weeks. any ideas on whats wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Has she been spayed?

If not, my guess is that you are the proud momma of a cat in heat!

I would get some hydro-cortisone for the itching, which may be an allergy, "nerves" from being in heat, or a little of both.

Dollar General here has it for $1 a tube.

*Keep the hussy indoors* while she's in this condition, & use the time to find a clinic where you can get her spayed for an amount you can afford.

Your local city shelter or a humane organization's shelter should be able to give you the name & phone # of a nearby clinic.

8 mos, not spayed, extremely vocal ... yes, she's probably in heat.

The scratching may be due to fleas. If she's allergic to fleas (which is quite common), all it would take is a single bite to set off a major bout of itching and scratching. Go to the vet and pick up a tube of Advantage flea control for her. DO NOT buy flea treatments from a store. A number of store brands (Hartz, etc.) have been known to cause death in the animals (particularly cats) to whom they are applied.

Change your intent and feelings about dosing your animals. Many animals pickup our energy and react to that. Next time it is time for dosing, wait til your cat comes to you, have the dose ready by where you are sitting, and after a nice massage for a few minutes, dose your cat. No biggie. This year has been a banner year for fleas. You might try and use food grade (not the pool kind) diatomaceous Earth or nematodes to treat your yard. YOu may have neighbors or wild animals contributing to the flea population. YOu need to know as soon those fleas try and bite your animals they are dead and can not reproduce - since you have an infestation it may take a bit to kill off all the adults, be patient other than what you are doing, find out where the population is being renewed

I agree with Laurie on everything that she said, especially about the locked door, as well as what catmom said about your cat being kept in the house and not ever let out.....ever. Depending on how long your party is, here's another suggestion in case you don't have a room that you can actually lock her in. Do you have a carrier? In particular, a large carrier? If so, set it up like her own little condo with a small bowl of water and a small bowl of food. Line it with something really thick and comfy and a few of her favorite toys. If it's large enough (we have a large dog carrier that we do this with for one of our cats) you can put a little disposable litter pan in as well. We've found that our younger cat doesn't use the little little pan at all, but boy does he head for his big pan once he's let out, but at least it's there just in case. (Our older cat, who's something like 20+ years old, is happy if he's on my husband's pillow and has a fan gently blowing in his face so we don't contain him, other than closing our bedroom door.) Put her in it and put the carrier in a darkened room with the door shut. This should help her feel safe, calm and comfortable. Hope this helps. I would not worry about it. He's not really going insane, just seems to be seriously pouting that he did not receive more and is not in control over what his father did nor what his stepmother plans to do. Sounds like Grandpa figured up son had gotten through the years all son was going to get. Wise of Grandpa to have a will and clearly laid out the divisions. I'm not one to believe our parents 'owe' us as their children to leave us all their assests and life savings. Sure, they can't take the money with them but what they actually do with it is their decision. Sometimes this does cause remaining heirs to become resentful and angry....'I should get this/that', 'why did so and so even get included', 'whine whine, blah blah'...but bottom line is it is the deceased person's last will and testiment and the deceased gets to do however he pleases. Grandpa could have left every spare nickle not going to Grandma to charity and/or desired a match to be put to a big pile. I think a lot of times parents 'help' their children all their children's adult lifes and come 'settlement' time the parent has decided that kiddo has received all their share already. It's a personal decision and Grandpa made it. To whine to you that Grandpa and now Grandma chooses to give others some is not 'crazy' in his line of thinking...but it is unrealistic of him to think he has a right to complain or that he should be entitled to the money. I'd refuse to discuss it with him. Afterall Grandma is still very much alive and of course you hope Grandma has many more years to live and you intend to enjoy and treasure the years you have left with the woman... even if Grandma announced today YOU either will not receive a dime in the end. He can pout all he wants. In the end Grandma might decide to leave all that's left to a charity for animals....what's he going to do then? Call up the charity and demand they give him a chunk? I have a hunch Grandma desires to leave some to you grandkids because your father has indeed been helped all his life, will blow it and she feels the money is better 'spent' now helping the next generation get off to a better start. I would not dwell on it, plan on it nor agrue about it. Grandma is a grown up, she gets to do as she pleases (unless their were strict guidelines in Grandpa's will that become effective on Grandma's death).

Literally. I can't focus, I can't remember anything and I get angry at the drop of a hat all while I'm internally combusting. I truly expect them to find my legs with the rest of me incinerated. I need help. I guess I need to see my dr. right? My mother and 2 of her sisters died from breast cancer. My sister had the test and does not have the gene. I can't afford the test.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i need help! my cat is great normally and after having her checked 3 times for pregnancy, the doctor said she wasn't pregnant (she was a stray that we took in) but now she's being very strange. She has awful dandruff, she keeps drooling when i pet her and she keeps scratching herself and refuses to put her butt down. Could this just be due to the dandruff?

Make an appointment for her at the vet, ask them if you can make payments or put it on a credit card. She is suffering and this part of responsible pet ownership. If you have not had a healthy kitten check up then you need to get her one. She might have ear mites, a tooth problem or fleas....it's hard to tell but she is trying to tell you that something is not right and she needs your help.

Cesser, same to you, get her to a vet, she is not well.

paenut-I agree with Sylvia.She is most deffinitely old enough to be in heat.I have a cat that isn't spayed and when she is in heat she pulls out tufts of hair and deposits them everywhere! Although mine is not very vocal she is annoying.LOL I think she is in love with my DD.When she walks in the house she follows her and lays down in front of her,or when she is getting ready to go out lays in front of her bedroom door with her butt in the air.Sometimes she comes in heat every 3 or 4 weeks.I never knew they would do that but read the they will come in heat continually until bred.So see what you have to look forward to? LOL The scratching/itching could just be stress(being in heat)as is pulling out the hair.Keep her inside as Sylvia said and get her spayed as soon as possible if you ever intend for her to go outside,or if you don't want to put up with this behavior every few weeks......Lillie
