Some questions about seagrass

I love the look of seagrass, but being in the upper midwest, I'm wondering if it is more suited to souther climates. For those that have seagrass, I have a few questions.

Is there anyone out there in a cold climate that has seagrass and if so, how do you like it in the cold winter months?

If you have seagrass over hardwood, what do you have underneath? I have a thick rug pad that is hardwood safe that I use under my current area rug, but I'm thinking it would be to thick for a thin seagrass.

Does seagrass have a green tint to it?

I don't have seagrass and never have, but I'm bumping this up for you so that hopefully you'll get some answers! Good luck!

We live in NY and we bought a seagrass rug in December 2009.
First, we were told we did not need a rug pad, but we use one anyway....it makes it very cushy.
We did not find that the rug was colder than a normal rug in the winter.
They say it has a greenish tint, and I suppose depending on the light, you might see that, but ours looks beige, not greenish.
I have attached a small photo of the LR so you can see the color. It is pretty true to life.

I used the RH textured Belgian lined linen panels in our home. Lined, since they were for bedrooms and I wanted a heavier looking panel then the unlined panels look in person. They grew a little, but not much. Maybe an inch. I got the rod panel and used wooden rings. (Panels come with hooks, btw.) I mainly have straw, but also have flax and sliver sage panels. Yep, not that I clean that frequently under my rugs, but at first I assumed it was just smudges. However, it definitely looks like the finish has been dulled in a pattern, especially when you look at it from an angle. I also just got a new seagrass rug for the LR. When I checked the back of the rug, there's a distinct pattern from the unevenness of the front pattern. Now, of course, I'm worried that this pattern will also leave an imprint on my hardwood floors. First thing is to put a felt pad underneath.

They are pretty awful little buggers but I would think you are probably ok. Ive had em twice. I never saw any flying around. They seem to be kind of bashful and if you bump the plant they're ruining, they normally scurry to hide. The plant w the thrips was the only plant in the house? If so, you're probably good. If not, you may not be, depending on circumstances.

Sometimes Hoya tips will die back like that, usually no big deal if it's just a single one. Normally I just clip off the dead end & it usually restarts. Nothing to be concerned about. Yes, that is a peduncle, congratulations! I believe repotting now will disrupt its blooming. I'd keep your care the same now & try not to change anything. Enjoy. ETA: Your plant looks very healthy, hope you'll share the blooms when it happens.
