Anyone order med.'s on-line?

Hi, I have been ordering Heartguard and Frontline for my dogs at Entirelypets.com for years now. They have no fleas, ticks or heartworms. My sister's vet recently retired and the vet who has taken over will not approve her request for an on-line prescription for Revolution without another heartworm test, although it's only been a little over 6 months. She said the on-line companies do not get their med.'s from the drug companies that the vets get them from. Does anyone here order med.'s on-line, or has anyone heard of the on-line med.'s not being "real", or either being expired? Thanks for your input!

I've never heard that before. My vet has no problem with us ordering our meds online, and recommended the place that we order from (vetcentric.com).

I think you do have to be careful that the place that you're buying from is legit. I HAVE heard of online places that tout that you don't need a prescription to buy from them, so who knows what's going on with that kind of situation? They may be doing all kinds of shady things.

I just did a little research -- it looks like there may be reasons specifically for your vet being worried about the heartworm medication, though:

It still sounds to me, though, that if your dog has had the heartworm test recently, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to buy the meds online. It's odd.

I bought Frontline Plus from MAAK, spent $96 and never received it. I got the round around and they never answered calls or emails. I took it off my charge and ordered from another company. I did not need an RX and this company sent it in less than a week. It came from New Zealand. With seven cats it gets expensive if I had to pay vet prices.

Thank you for the link - I am hoping that I can work a better quality product into my budget if I can leave out the middleman and services I don't need. We will be doing the install ourselves as well. It should help on the bottom line, but all of the dealers in my area have the KD fee and high product mark-up.

Thx all for the great advice. I live very near Taps in Mississauga and feel their prices are high. Interesting that no has experience with the company I noted above. I am confused by zfrankle comment about quality and not being such a good buy. These sinks are 16 gauge heavy duty certified 304 series 18/10 CrNi (Chromium Nickel) stainless steel; sound dampened with sprayed sound proof coating and an additional thick rubber sound proof pad, which I understood were professional grade and the highest quality. That's why I thought the price was so good. Hmm...now I'm confused. Is the comment about quality based on the fact that they are not a brand name, or is it based on specs?

I've ordered from Smith & Noble on many occasions and have always been pleased with their service and products to include shutters and wood blinds. Just today I ordered from Blindsgalore.com for the first time because I want shutters for my guest bedroom NOW and they have the best deal going --- through tomorrow, sale 5% off + 20% discount. Time will tell if I can recommend them though. I don't think their site is as user friendly as S&N but it was easy to use nonetheless. My advise: 1. Read everything about how to measure and options. Then measure at least three (3) times before ordering because there are no refunds. 2. Never pay full price/shipping. There are always discounts to be had! Best of luck, Laura

Just don't buy Hartz Mountain in the grocery store. That stuff is cr@p. The flea powder caused my dog to die of lung cancer at age seven.

Why anyone would chance it with online meds for their dogs or even themselves for that matter is beyond me. There's been enough articles and even posts at this forum to see what can happen trying to save a few bucks. Try this, print out the web page showing the prices of these meds and take thm to your vet or other vets in your area, See if they will matc the price or even come close to it. Even if it come out a little more at least you know that it's the real thing. Not some bogus crap made in New zealand.

Not all places on the internet are evil! Yes there have been reports of fake pet and human drugs, some even get into your vet and your hospital! What it takes is to do some research to find trust worthy sites. I have been using a current (listed in previous post) supplier and it is great. Friends and family have used them with success. great if ur vet will come close, but not all will. Mine wont, and I see no reason why to pay almost double. but thats me!

The Frontline is made in France and shipped all over the world. It's just some countries don't mark up the price..Same as people from here going to Canada for their meds.
