Eighteenth Century, Minimal Intervention

palimpsest

This house recently went on the market in Philadelphia (photos through PruFoxRoach).

It is 18th century and largely untouched with kitchen, baths and lighting added where needed, but left largely intact. This looks like a 40+ year ownership. Notice that some floors are just patched with large pieces of plywood.

Of course now the appropriate replacement and restoration materials are more available. But the non-intervention approach is interesting. The price is low because of condition. I am tempted to reconsider my practical 50 year old modernist, so some extent.
