Clear clogged corrugated buried drainage pipe?
Comments (2)Well, I'm not sure but I have an underground pipe with a drain that comes out just down the walk from my kitchen. I have always ran a garden hose through to clean it out but apparently a gopher was able to get in a break in it as it has a lot of dirt in it & I stuck my arm in it as far as I dared & pulled out lot of fresh dirt. My thought is to try hose & if that doesn't work might put brass nozzle on it to try to force it out. My next idea is to see if I could get anywhere with a sewer snake, it's already rusty so thought I could loosen dirt with it., Might loosen up your leaves in there & get them so you can wash them out. If you have a long narrow pipe you might screw on another short pipe & elbow (to use as handle) & try going in at bottom end & loosening things up, I have a rebar that is full length as they don't cut it at Home Depot anymore & plan to take it & try to clean dirt out.(might work for you,but I would try other ideas 1st) That's about all this "do it yourselfer' can figure out! Big job to dig it out & put in new system. Good Luck!...See Moreclogging up of cold water/washing machine
Comments (1)From the sound of things, your well water is exceptionally "hard". The term "hard" means that the water has a high concentration of dissolved minerals in it. You should seek out an independent water testing lab and have them tell you what is in your water and how much. OR.... you could get a free water analysis from Culligan or other companies that sell water softeners but just remember that they are trying to sell you something. Products such as CLR can be used to clean up faucet aerators, shower heads, tea kettles and washing machine screens that get coated with lime but it's an ongoing process. I think that you will have to consider putting in a softener. There are softeners out there that do not need any sort of salt but they are more expensive than the regular softeners....See Moregreat way to clean out old clogged sewer pipes
Comments (5)My mother in law has had issues with her house lateral clogging up holding water and overflowing out the cleanout near the house. I know there are roots in the last 10 feet before the city main. I just went to a rental store called "A Tool Shed" and rented a General Pipe Snake with 100 feet of 5/8" cable. It had a 1" spade, 2" cutter, 3"cutter and 4"cutter that came with it. I used them all one at a time from the smallest to the largest now her lateral is flowing wonderfully. The whole job took me about 45 minutes and the snake had the auto feed system on it and that cut my time in half to do the hob. The snake cost $40.00 to rent for 2 hours. It does not take a genius. It takes patience and determination to do it right. Now if you need a nozzle for a pressure washer to clean from the house to the main make sure you get a forward cleaning nozzle. This will reduce the possibility of the water jet spraying back at you. Good luck and remember General Pipe Tools and Equipment and A Tool Shed Rental......See MoreClogged Freshwater Pipe
Comments (3)This is not allowed, ever! What happens when little Johnny next door goes to get a drink of water? He gets a dose of Drano and ends up dead, that's what happens. No real plumber in his right mind would put drain cleaning chemicals or lime-away into a potable water system. The fix is for the landlord to call a plumber and have the offending pipe replaced. If the landlord is insistant on putting chemicals into the potable water supply I would go to your codes enforcement officer in your town/city and let them know whats up. This is downright dangerous and someone could get hurt or killed if this is done. A lawsuit will cost the landlord a lot more than hiring a plumber to fix the problem correctly....See Morelazypup
