@sombreuil I guess I’m an outlaw as I just put in limestone floor in Versailles pattern on the first floor. I used to love oak and hate the orange color but now I have a huge aversion to wood kitchen as my in laws have oak everywhere. Their house is so dark that I carry a flashlight with me because I keep tripping over all the small carpets underfoot. Their cabinets were custom but the oak has gone orange. It was hellish trying to find paint to tone down the kitchen. With oak walls, ceiling beams, floors, cabinets, trims and all furniture (big and small) in dark oak, it’s very claustrophobic and oppressive to be in the house. We remodeled their house recently due to flood and they put everything back the same and added more oak in any area that did not have it before. My advice is choose what you love but use moderation in the amount of wood.

Which did you decide? I’m looking at wood Lea oak also!

Beige has a a good amount of red pigment to it. It can turn your floors into that light pink look that no one wants. To counteract the red orange of red oak, you need to think like a hair colorist. Greens to violets are what tone down red and yellows. Some violets will over correct and turn purple under artificial light, so the safest bet in the hands of the lightly experienced is a stain with a green cast. Walnut stains usually have a significant green pigment to them.

Too vague a question to get answers . Wall color is chosen to work with the floors and all of your stuff . It also depends on lighting . When asking about the floor post a pic here of the floor w erarely want to go hunting for items mentioned . Post pics of your furniture and if this is an empty space then choosing wall color needs to wait. Post those pics here in a comment DO NOT start another post.
