I love your room! I have not much useful advice, but I would say that the room needs a little bit more punch of color, like add a 2nd accent color (bright) and throw in a wall art with that color, as well as add another throw pillow on the bed with that color.

Can I ask you where are your nightstands from? I absolutely adore them!

What a beautiful, serene room. Love the bed, love the starburst, love the grid of framed pics in the hallway. I'd love to curl up in that chair, too!

I think the bedside lamps look fine. The lamp I have a slight issue with is the one by the chair. I think it's too big for the table. Almost looks like it could fall over. It might help if you removed the books and centered the lamp on the table, but I'm not sure -- it might still seem too large. Sorry, I know you didn't ask about that!

I could go either way on the nightstand hardware, I think. It's hard to see the nighstands in the picture but to me, either the silver or the original hardware looks fine.

I wouldn't add the area rug.

I do think the sheers don't look quite right because they're too short. I like that they pick up the blue from the bedding, though, so I would stay with the blue, just longer. (I can't tell actually if they match the blue in your bedding, but I would pick up the blue from your bedding and maybe look for a nice linen or silk drape?)

One more piece of unsolicited advice. You may have gotten a bit carried away in your desire for symmetry on either side of the bed. The nightstands feel a little crowded to me. I'd remove the bird and the tall vase, then move everything else over a smidge.

I think your room looks beautiful The lamps seem a good size to me and the mirror is a good piece for over the bed. I love the armoire...the dark wood with the silver-toned hardware looks great. I agree that you need a touch of color like maybe a brightly colored plant on the chest of drawers. Don't think you need a rug...but that is just me. NICE JOB!!!

Love the starburst mirror over the bed..I have the same one :) You have created a very comfortable room! The only thing I would change is move the lamp on the small table to your dresser. Perhaps an apothecary lamp could go next to the chair. Remove some of the items from the dresser and the nightstands to over the armoire. Love the blue curtains, but they need to be longer. Paint the entire room your accent wall color. I think the lamps look great!

Paint. In the photo, the wall above your bed has a warm tan glow. I'd paint all the bedroom walls that light beige color "and" the center of the tray ceiling. Then change the sheers to a longer curtain, textured fabric. Then the bedspread....coordinate or accenuate if you want drama....?

Love your star burst mirror...mind me asking where you found that?

sonaliagrawal - What color do you think would look good? The nightstands are from Pier1 (bought in 2005). They have two shelves behind the doors and hold tons of books.

sueb20 - I am going to try the side table lamp on the right of the dresser and see how that looks. Yes, I do think I need to work on the drapes. I'm a little afraid to order anything custom (bad luck in the past...ordered custom window treatments for the master bath then decided I didn't like them). I will experiment by removing the bird and vase and see if I like it better.

kmcg85 - I will try the lamp on the dresser. I actually *hate* the set-up on the right side of the dresser (random vases & a pic...it looks even worse in person!) and hadn't thought about trying the lamp there. Looks like my "drape denial" is going to have to end!

Very beautiful, serene room. I think your drapes are quite lovely and the texture and color seem to fit the space well. Is it possible to lower the curtain rod slightly so the drapes just touch the floor instead of buying new drapes?

So nice to see 'my' mirror too! I get a different perspective of how it looks and I love it! What color is the wall behind the bed? I just sampled BM Tucson Winds, but it pulls pink. I really like the color you have...now paint the other walls and call it a day! You have a lovely room.

LOVE your room so much as it is!!! It is so serene and very fresh and clean looking. I wished my room looked so perfect. I live to much in mine and there are two dog beds on the floor and usually a haphazard made bed (still I am proud to even make the bed)

Kiko - That nightstand of yours is going to be perfect in my foyer which isnt too big. Do you remember the name of the style by any chance? I can look around craigslist to try to find a piece like that.

I think your room looks almost perfect the way it is. The only thing I think you need to change is to lower the sheers so they just graze the floor, or get slightly longer sheers.

If you want to highlight the ceiling you could paint it half the wall color. It would set it off from the molding but would still be light and soft in color.

Can you tell me the size of of the sunburst mirror? I have been comtemplating putting one in our guest room, but not sure about what dia would look good over a queen size bed. Yours looks perfect.

Fabulous room - you have done such a beautiful job of decorating and placement - the colors are soothing and perfect. Just Beautiful!

Do you sew? If you do, you could add some trim across the bottom of the sheers to make them longer. Not sure I'd change anything else.

Wow, your room looks like a fine hotel. Very nice! I might suggest moving the bird next to mirror over to the other nightstand, and move that tall vase next to the one where the bird is. The squatier (sp) vase on dresser is too much with the bird. It is a very calm and relaxing room. Can I come and stay a night with you ?? :>)

I think it's beautiful too. The only thing that I would change is the the lamp on the table by the chair - just as another poster suggested.

Some folks like a punch of color - some do not. I personally wouldn't add a pop of color.

I love seeing the bird on the nightstand looking down the hall, and think your room is lovely! To add length to the existing panels at the window, you could hang them from rings and they might be just about the right length then without anything else. I love the way they look in that picture with the light coming through--very inviting to me. I agree about changing that lamp on the small table to a less bulky one--otherwise your room looks fantastic IMHO. I'm not sure what I think of adding the rug since the room looks so great without it.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind and helpful comments. I've had a house full of sickies and dh has been out of town so I haven't worked on anything yet. It's gratifying to read your comments because nothing is "luxe" in this room. There's a $249 clearance bed from Weir's, Pier 1 nightstands and dresser, floor sample Bernhardt Cooper chair from Haverty's, floor sample armoire from Haverty's, Zetta bed bench from Haverty's, Lamps Plus lamps and shades, Bombay birds and jade art, Dillards shadow boxes, Z Gallerie print, Pier 1 vases, and 10+ year old bedding (Ralph Lauren...wedding gift from MIL). The most expensive item is the ottoman; after finding the Bernhardt chair as a floor sample I decided I *really* wanted the matching ottoman and special ordered it at regular price.

worked with our bedding/furniture so we never changed it. We did paint a hallway and wanted a tan/beige with NO pink but, guess what, it's pinky.

aktillery - How sweet of you! Of course, this is the "idealized" version of the room ... it's usually piled with laundry to iron, hotwheels, magazines and shinguards. And I agree about the "made" bed, that's all I get done some days!

happyladi - Totally agree about the sheers! I'm considering using rings to lengthen them, or adjusting the hems (they have deep hems) or replacing them. Great idea about the paint. On a tray ceiling, do you paint the ceiling part or the vertical part the "color"?

roseabbey - Thanks! I think the mirror is about 27 inches wide. Our bed is a Cali King which, I believe, is 12 inches wider and 4 inches longer than a Queen.

msrose - I do sew, but my sewing could be considered a lethal weapon. Sometimes my DIY projects work, but sometimes they have Dang-Its-Yucky results. The sheers have deep hems so I might try letting them out.

sujafr - Thanks for noticing my "money" shot! That view of our room down the hallway is about all anyone (except for us) sees of the master. Noone else really goes in there. I will try the rings on the curtains to add length. I also love the "lightness" of the curtains; if the windows are open or the fan is on they also "billow" in the breeze like a cheesy Lifetime movie ... I just love it!

My mirror is over our bed just as you did. For as big as it is, it isn't very heavy is it? I love it!
