Joan,Joan Joan you are one more amazing person to share all these beautiful pics.Do you keep books on your pics.You ought too.They are really great.
Someone gave my FIL a digital camera for Christmas and he had us to put it together and show him how to use it.Than he asked how to get his pics out.We told him we take the card and print them out.Bless his heart for 82 years old you can see why he asked.He said he just stick to flim cameras.We told him to call us and we show him any time how to take pics with it.He was so amazed how you can look back at the pics you took.You know you can hardly find flim cameras any more.They look at you like are you kidding when you ask if they sell them.

I don't do store bought petunias anymore. I started with some re-seeding types from Select Seeds several years ago and I have petunias galore! They are in shades of deep purple, lavender, pinks to whites. Once in a while I get a broken color, but they seem to be gone this year. They get very long and I should start pinching, but probably won't get around to it. If I want to start some in other places, I just dig up a clump of seedlings and move them. This kind works better for me than the fancy hybrids the stores love to sell! This miserable heat we are having in southwest Missouri is hurting everything! My red daylilies in particular start out such a gorgeous color but are very unattractive by afternoon. The weatherman said we are having July heat now! Wonder what July will be like? We who live in different zones have to realize that our gardens are a whole different species from each other. We have to adapt our methods to our regions to get the best results and sometimes those results are less than what we would like. Such is life. glenda

Thanks for helping me try and figure this out! I really don't mind them being used, but it's bugging me that my top viewed pictures are somewhere on gardenweb but I can't figure out where! I did the google search and that's how I found the myspace picture. I've edited those pictures with an imprint of my blog address, so I doubt they will be used anymore. As for the recipes, here they are. Thanks for asking! Crumb topped apple pie 2 c flour 2/3 c firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 c uncooked regular oats 1/2 t salt 1/3 c chopped pecans 3/4 c butter, melted 4 c peeled, thinly sliced cooking apple (about 3 apples) 1/3 c sugar 1 1/2 t cornstarch 1/8 t salt 1/4 c water 1/2 t vanilla -Combine first 5 ingredients; add butter, and stir until blended. Measure 1 c firmly packed mixture; set aside for pie topping. Press remaining mixture in bottom and up sides of a well-greased 9-inch pie plate. Arrange apple slices in pieplate; set aside. -Combine 1/3 c sugar, cornstarch, and 1/8 t salt in a small saucepan; stir in water. Bring to a boil over medium heat; stir in vanilla. Pour hot mixture over apples; crumble reserved topping over pie. -Bake at 350 for 42 minutes, covering with aluminum foil during last 15 minutes to prevent excessive browning, if necessary. What an incredibly helpful thread! It has saved me from returning to panic mode. About a week ago I saw the spray-painted outline of the planned island for our new kitchen and it was 10 inches less in width than I had been told. (I had been told 46" wide and it was drawn as 36".) After seeing all of the posts and photos, I will be very content with 9' X 42"(we were able to add 6" back in without losing too much aisle space) . Thank you to all posters!

Lydia, the birds are free. They nest there because they and their eggs and young ones are safe from raccoons and possums, which rob the nests. The gators wait underneath (the birds nest above the water) for a baby to fall out. Sounds awful, but I guess that's nature.

Joan, your pictures are amazing! You might consider 'watermarking' them so no one can steal them from you. Who knows, someone might buy prints from you!!!

Does anyone have a free software program for watermarking digital photos?

Kay, my camera inserts my name in the EXIF info that's embedded in digital pictures. And I do have photos on a couple of sites that sell prints, Big Stock Photo and Fotalia. I have sold some prints.
