Olay Quench body lotion...seems to last all day for me and that's saying a lot for this old skin. :)

Walmart's own brand. I use it all over soon as I get out of the shower, so I don't use anything that's expensive. I used to use Vaseline Intensive care for years and years, but they changed the smell, and I can't stand it.

Does anyone buy specific creams for their face? I don't bother.

I use Corell. Sams sells it in nice BIG bottles. :)

Yes, I do use fancy stuff on my face. Estee Lauder.

I only use it on my arms and hands, right now I have Bath and Body Works Brown Sugar and Fig and also Meijer Advanced Healing lotion sometimes. I never use any lotion or cream on my face, just soap and water. Or maybe it is detergent and water. Dove or CVS beauty bar.

Bath and Body Warm Vanilla on the body. And Clinique on the face. Never have used soap on the face.

Jasdip, I like bar soap and a thick wash cloth for my face and when I shower...Olay brand.

Even though I have Olay complete with SPF 15, I seldom use it and just use the Olay Quench body lotion for my face, too. I don't know why cause I need the sun protection.

Funny, just last week I got together for a coffee with someone I hadn't seen in 10 years. She's quite a bit younger than me.....could be my daughter, actually.

Anyway, she was looking at me, and commented on how young I look. I told her I'm going to be 53, and she was amazed, and said I must have good genes, cause I don't have any wrinkles.

Sure made me feel good. (I've always been told I look younger than I am, but I didn't think I do so much, over the past few years).

I use Vaseline intensive care all over, the fragrance free. Fragrances make my eyes burn and I taste it. I found a very good buy on it at Target and bought 6 bottles, $1. each. After showering, I leave my body a little damp, then put lotion on. After having my left arm in a sling for four months my skin was like leather. My therapist told me put lotion on heavily and don't rub it in. Wouldn't have thought of that, but it worked fast.

Usually whatever I find on sale, and have a coupon for, for my body.... but my very favorite is Jergen's Original Scent (kind of a cherry scent) because it reminds me of my dear grandmother. For my face, and my aging wrinkled skin (I just turned 59 yesterday)... I have tried many many brands, from Clinique and Estee Lauder to Cosmedicine. Right now I am trying a line from Clarins that my DD got me a sample pack of, for aging skin... regenerative something or other. So far I like it. But I am sure it is too expensive for me. I guess the wrinkles are hereditary. I am a redhead, with freckles and very fair skin, so no suntanning for me..... I tell everyone I earned everyone of these wrinkles. But I hate them!

Jennava, I also love the Jergen's Original Scent.(I didn't know of anyone much that still used that but me, lol) I have stuck with it for years. I still use Noxzema to wash my face, and Oil of Olay for a moisturizer for my face. That is about it.

Long ago a dermatologist told me to use Lubriderm on my skin. (Skin is skin, including the face.) Ignore claims that any product 'penetrates' the skin to do *whatever*. The reason we HAVE skin is to form a barrier over our flesh! Nothing gets *under* our skin -- well, no lotion! A lotion can add a barrier to help prevent drying, but that's about it.

Eat well. DRINK plenty of water. Add some lotion as a barrier to keep moisture in.

i've had such a time with dry skin and have used my mother's old faithful keri, but for the days i want to smell good (like a lemon cookie, i swear!)i use jr watkins (target carries it) lemon creme...when the little dgds are over i use it on them...

on the same line...do you all slather your kids with lotion when they get out of the bath/shower? 2 of my kids do their children and one doesn't, and makes me crazy as the girls are very dry-skinned...

I didn't put lotion on my boys, they didn't have dry skin. Your skin needs moisture not lotion. Putting it on damp skin locks the moisture in, putting it on dry skin locks moisture out. Same with oils, get in the tub of water to get your skin wet then put oils in. I have been going to a dermatologist and he recommended Dove soap for my face. He also said lotion was lotion, high dollar doesn't do any better. Of course people with allergies might need something else, like fragrance free.

On my body - Aveeno, Eucerin or Palmer's Cocoa Butter. On my face it varies, right now I'm using Creme de la Mer at night (I was feeling spendy at Saks one day). During the day I use something from a Drugstore with SPF, like Aveeno or OOO. My skin tends to be dry rather than oily (actually, it's never oily). Once the weather gets more humid I will stop the la Mer at night.

I personally think sunscreen is priority #1. I'm 41 and people usually think I'm 29-31.

I agree with Chisue, lotions and creams don't actually go into your skin, they just sit on top and feel and smell nice. I inheirited good skin. My cousin, who is twenty years older, always washes with plain Ivory bar soap, stays out of the sun, and has beautiful skin with no wrinkles. When I was in the hospital for some tests, the nurse looked at me, looked at the chart, and said "I must have the wrong person! You couldn't have been born in 1952!" That was the best compliment I've ever received. Another woman thought I look younger than my real age!

They may not be absorbed, but they do a lot of good. My SIL didn't even have a bottle of lotion in her home. Her hands looked like a mechanic's hand except no grease. They were red and cracked.

It may not penetrate, but the purpose is to keep a barrier between the moisture in/on your skin and the air - so that the moisture can't evaporate so easily - my doctor told me that for very dry skin, cream is much better than lotion, it should say "cream" on the jar.

I use Clinique moisture online for my face and Walmarts off brand of Eucerin cream in a pot for the rest of my body. I used the Eucerin brand cream and then tried the off brand and there was *no* difference, except for a radical savings price wise.

I slather it all on *while I'm still damp from the shower* I only dab off the big water droplets. It won't be nearly as effective if you dry off the water.

I have very dry skin, by following these directions it has really helped, for me anyway.

When I get crusty elbows or feet, I use one of two. Amway's honey & glycerine (not even sure if it's still made - the tube must be nearly 20 years old) or Neutrogena. Neutrogena especially, uses SO little, it's uncanny. They both seem to actually DO something to soften the crust, even though they're kind of expensive, but I'm not adverse to paying for effective products. Everything else is just oily stench and could just as well use vegetable oil.

On my body I use coconut oil, smells good and you use a very small amount. On my face I've started using Noxzema and don't need a lotion after.

I wash my face with Noxema because I like the smell. I use Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum on my face, and I also use an oil-free sunblock on face and neck.

On my body, I use Gold Bond Ultimate Healing.

People regularly think I'm 10 years younger than I am. (Not that I advertise my age, but I'll mention some song, movie, whatever, and they'll realize I'm older than they thought.) I think it's a combination of good genes and staying out of the sun and/or using sunblock diligently. But I do like the creams!

I use only Bath and Body products for my body and for my face, Mary Kay night cream. My skin is very dry.

Was it the KT that had a thread a long time ago about a specific oil from Health food stores that people were using after showers? If so does anyone remember the oil?
