Motorcycle Boots, Carpet and Cold Weather
Comments (1)I've never understood this phenomenon... I would have thought rubber soles would be a protector against building up a charge with the carpet. I use those unscented dryer tissues in the dryer to keep my nylon/polyester pjs from sticking together and practically sparking at me. Would using a couple of those to wipe across boot soles help, do you think? josh...See MoreSome flowers and my new fur baby
Comments (11)Thanks all! I didn't know what the palm was but I loved it, it was just a pic, not mine. The brug is a noid, the caterpillar was pretty, but man, did it do some damage on my plumies. The new puppy is only 10 months old, a bullmastiff,b/c you know I didn't have enough work already with the 2 kids and 2 other dogs, but I'm a sucker for animals so....... welcome Bella....See MoreWeekend Trivia -- Sunday
Comments (13)In both countries, the Lab is the favorite. This was the order in the US in 2009 according to the AKC. From what I have found, Canada's list is pretty similar. 1. Labrador Retriever 2. German Shepherd Dog 3. Yorkshire Terrier 4. Golden Retriever 5. Beagle 6. Boxer 7. Bulldog 8. Dachshund 9. Poodle Shih Tzu for Annette and Cynthia. As of yesterday we are again dog owners, though I expect that will soon change to "being owned by a dog". After a few years of being dogless, we got a 6 month old Irish Setter named Annie yesterday. I'll post a picture soon. Thanks for playing trivia with me this weekend. TM...See MoreBeware of 'Giants'--('graphic' warning)
Comments (9)G.E., I think the real problem was the weird Spring! I have had many hosta in barrels for several years, and this year was the first I've lost so many of them. The SOA, I dug out, was one such victim, having sprung up in the unseasonably warm weather in March and then was subsequently hit by *reality* the following week! It was mostly mush and part of the blame has to go to the fact that most of my soil was clay, as I discovered when I emptied the barrel. It was planted before I *knew better*, apparently. Also, I found that there were no drain holes in the bottom of the barrels and with so many roots in there, I think the side holes were just not enough drainage. Put it all together, and it was "a disaster waiting to happen!". So, this year, I am using the barrels, again, but I am planting fewer eyes in pots that sit in the barrels and filled in around with the pine bark mulch. When fall comes, I will pull the pot out and plant it, pot and all for the winter and reposition in the barrel come the 'safe-Spring' next year! I will continue doing this, till I'm convinced that this type of Spring is not a routine change of weather pattern--which I really doubt it is!! :o) So, don't be deterred! Use your barrels, because they really are a neat way to display your hosta--don't you think? janice...See Morecarmen_grower_2007
