Will I hate a low-flow sink faucet & do I need lead -free?
Comments (4)Thanks, y'all. Yes, we do drink out of the bathroom faucet when brushing teeth, etc. so I guess I should go with "lead-free". My original concern was that lead-free choices seemed limited and all had low-flow (vs. just "low-lead" choices or regular ones.) I did find a good deal on a nice-looking widespread faucet that is lead-free. I was originally concerned that the low-flow would be an issue, or that "lead-free" meant "plastic parts that would break" but the manufacturer's rep assured me that I could just swap out the aerator if I didn't like the low flow and that it was still made of brass parts, but that they just changed the formulation of the brass to reduce the lead to meet the "lead-free" limitations. I guess my state (Maryland) has just enacted stricter lead requirements anyway. Not sure if they could have sold me a regular one or not, but I have noticed some faucets listed as "not for shipment to CA or VT". Anyway--here is a link if anyone else is interested. I did google for reviews of this company and they have very good reviews, btw. Hope this helps someone else!! Comments (25)The first purchase for my kitchen renovation was a Grohe Ladylux Cafe faucet. my counters are 30" deep so there is plenty of room for the lever action. I much prefer the pull down sprayer to the pull out ones; very little effort required; sensible design; lovely to look at! Carguy60: my new larger window over the sink faces west and in summer will get lots of sun. the windows have Low E coating; is the UV film still advisable? I am planning to have some sort of Roman type blind that will raise and fold up into its own little housing, mounted above or on the window trim. I want a spare, simple look most of the time, but have to block the sun in summer....See MoreFranke Orca sink and Grohe faucet -online source???
Comments (15)I recently posted a 5% discount coupon that I found on 'Retail Me Not" from National Builder Supply and got a lot of good feedback. They are a Grohe dealer and price match plus free shipping. The coupon code is 64895311. I have a Grohe Bridgeford faucet and love it and have rarely ever seena complaint here with the exception of the one posted here on this thread. Comments (18)Grohe. Our plumber, who isn’t one to recommend expensive items just for the heck of it, told us “get a Grohe.” Having lived with our Grohe Ladylux Cafe pull down faucet for just about 13 years, we’re still glad we took his advice. Ergonomically, the spray head is terrific. It fits comfortably in my small hand, as well as in my husband’s much larger one. I believe they’ve not only updated the body design somewhat, but also offer the same (or similar) model with a narrower spray head (not bell shaped like ours). Ours wasn’t available with a stay-on spray button (must be held in for spray), but I think that might be how they are made now. I haven’t looked for kitchen faucets since purchasing ours, but they probably offer other great pull-down models as well. Grohe offers a lifetime warranty, and will send out replacement parts at no cost. Buying a Grohe faucet (and pot filler faucet) was money well spent IMO....See Morebrickeyee
