I don't blame you for wanting it - "Purple Leaf Honeysuckle" is beautiful, but unfortunately, it's a Japanese Honeysuckle! I have very fond memories of Honeysuckle. My grandmother taught me how to suck the nectar from them, and I've always loved their fragrance. But, now that I'm doing my own gardening, I've learned that the way those grow that it's more work than I care for to keep it under control and they are invasive, not only in our own gardens, but in the natural areas as well. I'm doing a garden restoration of a property with Japanese Honeysuckle growing on the fence line on all three sides of the back yard. If you had been with me the past two times, first for 5 hours and the second for 3 hours pulling honeysuckle out of shrubs, trying to dig up the roots and runners (it roots at each node and sends up sprouts) you'd never plant one ever! By the way, I'm only half-way down one side and will have to go back over what I've already done again once the leaves have fallen to be sure I haven't missed any. It's a nightmare. Surely I haven't gotten it all, so I'll have to use an herbicide carefully in the spring when it starts putting on new growth and try not to kill the good plants. Oh, another thing, the Honeysuckle was covered with berries and as I was working, birds were feeding and flying off to plant the seeds for someone else to deal with.

i use this product http://www.scjohnson-egypt.com/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=2397, i don't know if it's effective as liquid fogger or not but they work the same. those although aren't that effective for the insect i'm talking about, when i start this device it repels them for a couple of hours then they start again but not as vigorous as they do when there is no fog. i tried to leave the room open for some nights and let this repellent thing does it work, but no use. they seem to know where they are going, it doesn't seem like an infestation although , it rather seems like they are a group that stuck on me. today i've found one of them dead on my disk, i don't know whether i could send a photo of it or not, and if i could whether any one will identify it or not. so i need more advise. thanx

I am crying as I read this. I am so sorry for your loss. You had a beautiful cat and friend. I had a similar situation with my soul mate Maddie. She was 15.5 years old and was miserable. She ate, drank, walked etc but she was not herself and I knew I could not let her live the way she was. I too posted here on this forum asking for advice. In doing so, it helped me come to the conclusion that was one I already knew but was having a hard time accepting. We put her down and I was sick with anxiety and sadness. It has gotten better over the months but everytime I see a sad story about a dog or one that even resembles her I get an ache in my heart. Luckily, those moments are becoming less. Stay strong. You had a wonderful friend who loved you and you loved back. You gave your cat a wonderful life. In my mind that is a gift. Huge hugs!

How would you put a carpet into a freezer? I am so slap happy to not have any captive animals in my house anymore. I had always had cats. Most often they were indoor/outdoor but I did keep a box for them because I always tried to make sure that they were inside at night and of course in cold weather. I loved my cats but am overjoyed at not having to deal with that anymore. One place that one of my cats took to using still smelled for years after she was gone and I will bet, if you put your nose to that area, you might still catch a whiff. When I was growing up I never heard of keeping a cat inside. As a middle aged adult I came to live in a community where the complete opposite was true. I never liked having a caged or house bound animal and will never do that again. Can you imagine living your entire life in the house? Even for a cat that sounds soul crushing. Visited with some old friends over the weekend. They always had cats, no kids. They currently. have 7 cats in the house. They used to keep all of their cats inside and I was surprised to see that they are actually letting them come and go in and out. They have a very small old fashioned town house and there were cats coming out of very corner. I have always loved the company of cats but husband dislikes them being in his space. It is a legacy of his early upbringing and not rooted in any real logic, I think. I loved my cats, but want no more, ever.
