Vintage Tub and Bath - anyone ever ordered from them?
Comments (2)I did- ordered a shower rod from them. They had the best price by far on line for the item. My item took a long time to ship, too (it was actually shipped direct from the manufacturer.) I called and inquired, was given a tracking #, and the item arrived shortly after that. I think they just don't have their system down very well. Try calling on Monday?...See MoreHas anyone ever owned a Mauicast bathtub by Bootz?
Comments (14)I’ve also been looking for a new tub. Looked at 3 KOHLER alcove acrylic tubs on a showroom floor. The Kohler’s are deep. Some have arm rest moldings inside the tub. At first, I thought I did not want a tub with the arm rests, but after sitting in the tubs and trying to get out.....the arm rests are almost a neccessity to pivot off of to get out of the tub. Some of the KOHLER tubs are 19 to 21 inches tall from floor to top of tub. I like the look of the KOHLER ARCHER acrylic tub, but could see that it might be difficult to get out of the tub, especially for the elderly, even though it is listed as ADA compliant. Today, I stopped at a new construction house in my neighborhood and there was a nice Bootz tub that had a good look and only about 16 to 17 inches high, with no armrests or molding ledges down inside the tub. This Bootz tub looks like a cast iron tub with a 35 degree lumbar slope at the back to lean back and relax. I sat in it with my clothes on and found it to be comfortable and easy to get in and out of. Not sure what model it is.....but on viewing the Bootz website, I think it is a Maui Plus or a Mauicast Plus Tub. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? I did not notice any slip resistant surface or grit surface in the bottom of the tub. It all looked and felt smooth to me. I was excited to find this tub, but after reading the reviews, I am wondering if it would hold up over time? The grit and rust stains would bother me. Anyone else on this thread have experience with the Bootz Maui Plus or Bootz Mauicast Plus bathtubs?...See MoreKohler Greek tub as tub/shower combo
Comments (18)Wow, thanks bumble doodle! Tt is great to know that the tub works well as a shower. We are tall too--at least most of us (two of my teenage daughters are twins and one is 5'2" and the other is 5'10", so maybe the short one complains a bit but that's ok, since she complains about everything!) We are getting the non-jetted version. Also, I am hoping that building the deck at the front will help with the water spray. I am pushing the tub back into an alcove under the window the long way (so we get into the tub at the 32" side rather than from the 48" side) and we are trying to go without shower doors in order to make the bath feel open. With a deck, we buy a few more inches of length to help avoid water on the floor. We may not succeed and will put a panel on if we have to. Any thoughts on this?...See MoreRemoving Double Sinks - Bath tub
Comments (9)Since you have 3 bathrooms that sound quite large, I would leave a tub in one of them and then do exactly what you want in the other 2 bathrooms. Whoever designed your house sure did love the long vanities! I'm stunned by those measurements. It could look a little odd to have counters that long with just one sink, so I would consider adding tall storage cabinets (if you could use more storage) alongside a shorter length countertop/vanity. As for one or two sinks, I'm building our new main bath with just one, because I like to have counter space to spread out on. That's fine for the way we live - my husband and I never need to be in the bathroom getting ready at the same time. Nor did my kids ever have a problem sharing a single sink in our previous house. But some people would refuse to buy a house that had just one sink in the master bath. I don't think there's any one right answer for this....See Moreorganic_donna
