Hi Jerijen, The rose was either mislabeled and actually is SDLM or they sent the wrong plant; a SDLM Climber. I realized the error yesterday and sent an e-mail as they were closed yesterday. I am hoping that the plants were just mis-labeled, but if it is an error, I feel pretty confident that a correction will be made, as the supplier is a reputable company. If a mistake was made, it could have been avoided by reading what was on the invoice versus their tag; it clearly does not match. If this was an error; someone dropped the ball so to speak and we are all human, but it is an inconvenience for me the customer and my hubby potted up the incorrect roses for me. The SDLM is for my garden in Las Vegas, but I have no real use for a climber ( could possibly find a home for two of them) and contemplated sending the incorrect plants to my sister- in -law in Ventura if the supplier does not want them returned; I am not sure what their exact protocol would be, but this same supplier sent a rather unhealthy plant that died and they are sending a replacement in October; kind of apples and oranges in that one plant is dead and the other three are healthy just incorrect so I have no point of reference. After your advice, should I remain left with the incorrect roses, I will not send a SDLM CL to my sister in law as it would not be carefree in her garden. If the roses are not replaced then I will definitely seek recourse and never order plants from the supplier again; but I have no reason to believe that this will be the scenario with them regarding this situation. I just lost my precious baby boy, Romeow, to FIP this morning. I had only had him for two weeks and he was only "normal" for about two days. Then the loss of appetite started, weight loss, lethargy. We took him to the vet (twice) where they gave us meds for hookworms and antibiotics for fever but he just became more and more lethargic and sad. I had to feed him with a syringe and give him the high-vitamin cat gel. Anyway, he just seemed worse and worse so I took him to the emergency vet this morning and his little tummy was so swollen, his third eyelids had been showing for the last few days and his gums were white. They drew fluid from his abdomen and they said it was likely that he had FIP. I had him put down because I didn't want him to suffer. I've been crying non-stop since then, and I also have five kids who are heart-broken. I AM SO ANGRY AT THE BREEDER. She eluded that something could be wrong with him (AFTER WE PURCHASED HIM). She wanted us to put him to sleep without even trying to figure out what was going on with him! I'm so sad I can't even think straight right now. Even in two short weeks he was such a wonderful little guy. I miss him so much.

"Liver disease" is not a very specific diagnosis. There are literally hundreds of different things that can cause liver disease- hepatic lipidosis (which can be a result of ANY disease), infection (bacterial, fungal, protozoal, parasitic), portosystemic shunt, immune-mediated, FIP, FeLV, FIV, cancer, etc. Some problems are more manageable than others but the treatment varies a bit depending on the cause. Of course tube feeding is very important for any cat that's not eating on his own, so keep that up. Has your cat been tested for FeLV and FIV? Hopefully it's something simple that can be treated medically. Poor kitty. Keep him fed and loved- that's the most important thing right now. If you have a specific diagnosis maybe I can help a little more.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. It has been not quite two full days after saying goodbye to Henry and it is still hard to not imagine him being in his favorite spot when I go in a certain room or find him following me. It has been such a hard emotional month dealing with all this; I miss him terribly even though there is a relief that I don't have to worry about him anymore. It was hard to put away his bedding and I have yet to clean his food dish with his latest meal still in the fridge, but I know it will probably take me a few more days before I am able to think of him without such saddness. I am just still so bitter and in shock that something like this can be so devastating. I wish I could do something to help fund research to find a cure or a medicine that would allow cats to live with this disease. Does anyone out there know if there is a place that is working on an FIP cure/vaccine? I would be interested to know. Soemone said it earlier, that this is just such an evil disease, and I figured out that it is because there is no hope that one can hang onto........you feel so helpless........as his "mom" that was just so hard for me to deal with, and of course the not knowing when and how long he would stay with me until the time came to relieve him of his suffering. I found comfort in reading all your words, so thank you again for supporting me through this hard time. Wow, it hasn't even been a month........i think back to a few weeks ago, I have a picture of him in my washing machine where he was exploring one day and I had to snap a picture, that was Henry.......just a sweet little kitten snooping around my space while I was close by. He always had a way of looking right at me with his eyes, almost like he was trying to tell me something.......and I have to believe it was love, and that's why losing him has been so hard, he was one of those kitties who really, really loved you(me). I hope that if anyone else is going through this with their kitty they can find some help and support through this forum, I didn't know who I could talk to and this really helped fill a void. So onto the healing and again, just love love love your animals, in sickness and in health, because once they're gone you can't go back and have more time with them, and at least you can hold onto the fact that you gave them all the time, attention and love that you had.
