how do marble and soapstone compare in terms of wear?

I'm considering both. I know they're very different (I'm thinking of Carrara) but I like them both. I know soapstone isn't porous, doesn't stain and doesn't seem to etch. I guess my main concern with a stone countertop is chipping around the edges, especially with a large edge perimeter around an apron sink, from being hit by pots or heavy dishes. Does one hold up better in this regard than the other? What have owners experienced?

Thanks.
