Enter Master Programming Mode DF=Gal VT = St1b CT=F1 NT=2 TS - This indicates the tank currently in service. No change. C=21 H=9 RS=SF SF=0 (unless you have issues with inadequate water flow. Then set it to 10) RC=0 (You are using a % reserve rather than a fixed reserve) DO=20 RT=2:00 (or another convenient time when you wonâÂÂt be using water for a couple of hours) Regeneration cycle step times BW=10 BD=45 RR=10 BF= 4 Exit Master Programming Mode. Pour 4 gallons of water into the brine tank. Add enough salt to cover the water. If you have very high humidity, maintain the salt at about this level and check it every couple of weeks. If your humidity isnâÂÂt high, after a few regens you can go ahead and fill the brine tank if you wish. You want to monitor water level for the first few regens just to ensure everything is functioning as it should. After that, just make sure you check periodically and keep salt in the tank. Reset your clock to actual time. At this point itâÂÂs a good idea to force the softener to step through the regen steps. There is no need to allow each step to complete. Just leave it in each step long enough to verify that the valve has changed position then move on to the next until you are back in service mode. Enjoy your soft water.

Here are the answers: 1) Yes. The brine tank is being emptied during regeneration and water is being added back into the brine tank. 2) The brine tank is full (4-6" from the overflow) when the regeneration is complete and it is back in service. 3) So far, one regeneration cycle has completed. Upon completion of the first regeneration cycle, the water through the faucet was orange/brown. It got better but wasn't switching to clear so I put it back in bypass mode so no water was coming through the softener. After reading the manual again, I had opened the wrong valve first (outlet) on the bypass. The manual states "When returning to service, put the inlet into service before the outlet." I'm not sure if that matters, but I'm just trying to give you as much information as possible. I'd say we ran about 15-20 gallons before switching it to bypass mode. It is currently in the middle of the 2nd regeneration. It is in the middle of the 2nd cycle which is the brine draw cycle and is 60 minutes. There is about 20 minutes left in the cycle and the brine tanks has about 2 or so inches of water left in it. When this regeneration cycle is done, the system will have undergone two renegeration cycles with about 15-50 gallons of water run through it. Thanks. Holding tight now.

sorry for the late response. I am learning more and seem close to operating the system but need help programming the 5600. The manual is hard to understand if I want to set this up in demand mode inorder to save on water and salt. As a FYI, I diagnosed my previous issue. I hooked up the unit incorrectly and the piston shaft was bent so screw holding holding it in place kept slipping out of position. I picked up a rebuild kit, installed new injector, replaced the piston and seals and the "O" ring on the brine intake. Works smoothly now... I am on municipal water with 10 -10.3 hardiness. I have two showers with low flow shower heads. (4) members in the household. I have inserted more Water Softener component information below in the following questions. 1) The Fleck 5600 econominder clock dial is set for current time. What time will it start the regeneration cycle? Seems most units have a built in default of 2am. My autotrol 740 carbon filtration unit is scheduled to activate at 2am every 7 days. It has a 48 x9 tank with 1.25 cu ft of carbon. I need to make sure they both do not regenerate at the same time. 2) I have an older Fleck 5600 contoller with gpg x 100 and number of people in the house. My resin tank is 10x54 with 1.5 cuft of media. I know it is oversized for my application. There is a white dot on the wheel. I calculated my useage which is 4 people x 75 gallons x 10.3 (gpg) =3090 grains per day. I programmed the unit for 12 pounds of salt during regeneration. I am confused by the programming dial and want to set the regeneration frequency based on the size of the unit and the demand placed on it. However, the largest setting is 21 x100 or 2100. Does this mean it is generating more frequently than necessary since the capacity of this system is 48000? Obviously, I am not thinking correctly to solve this riddle. If the 5600 econominder can not regenerate to accommodate the size of my system, does Fleck offer another controller that works with the existing piston, injector, brine connector? Thanks for the replies. I was away from the computer last night - thus the delayed response. The BFLC sticker reads 1.5gpm The vendor supplied a skimpy, generic install sheet and nothing about settings (the perils of buying on the WWW) I do have the manuals for the valve and it explains what the settings are but doesn't really go into determining what to set them at. It refers you to your professional for that. I made a few changes based on a guide I found on the Internet - it too was a little skimpy on how to determine setting values. We do have the .75 cubic feet of resin per tank setup. The SFR is more than adequate for our well. We've addressed the nitrate level with a ceramic filter at our drinking supply that removes >85%. Since the PH was in the normal range (higher side) and our water tastes good it wasn't addressed. I know there are a lot of settings to go through on the water softener and it's a lot to ask of someone to walk us through each so if anyone can point us to a detailed guide online somewhere that would be great. I just want to make sure it is set up specific to our situation. Thanks again.
