This is a sensor faucet, so when you have you hands or cup or whatever in the path of the sensor (it's a cone shaped zone), the water comes on. Tapmaster would work too. I think the secret to doing renos well together is that we essentially grew up together. We were 19 and 21, still in school, when we married and this is almost 44 years later. We've always done stuff together, and since we had zippo money for a lot of years, this included lots of manual labor of one sort and another. When I was getting ready to graduate, I was being encouraged to go to grad school. Even though he had landed a teaching job and taught 5th grade for a year, he said if I wanted to go for a Ph.D. he'd go to Africa with me to study primates. How's that for love? I decided it was time for a family instead. He goes to archery with me when I ask, I go to License Plate (collectors) meets with him usually. I won't go to NASCAR races, though - there I draw the line. At home, we're a team. It works for us. The kids think it's cute. When did we become cute?

It must be that kitchen faucets swivel but some bathroom faucets don't. But my Rohr in my bathroom does swivel, so DH said not to get the Kohler one in the bathroom that is fixed. "Make sure it swivels". I just thought they all swiveled. So I think everybody is right here. If it's a kitchen sink it probably swivels. Anybody have a Jado?

Today, my new fireclay sink will be delivered. As usual, my process for renovation and construction is a little unusual. After spending several days on a "big box" website, in there "semi custom" cabinet line, I learned that my kitchen will not accommodate the trendy farm sink. No problem, wasn't too crazy about them, nor the cabinets after due consideration. I do like the single bowl, white, and shiny look. I found, on Houzz, of course, the Barclay Pierina, Italian, fireclay sink. Big plus: I have the choice of mounting it on top of the countertop or as an undermount. More reading. Discovered there are numerous issues with the undermount choice: There are poor installation practices abounding that are only apparent after several years leading to cracked countertops, dropped sinks, and mold growing in the silicon sealant with it's attendant odor. Undermount seems to be the fashionable choice, and it does make countertop maintenance easier. Overmount is practical, but dated and has the bowl edge exposed to catch anything and everything swept toward the sink. Enter my unusual process: how about a combination of the two options via rabbetting the edge of the sink hole to accommodate the bowl lip for a flush overmount? I don't have the sink yet, so I don't know the dimensions of the lip, but as a SWAG, let's call it 1 cm thick, or half the thickness of the slab. This probably would involve epoxying a full depth, reinforcing granite scrap under the bowl location. We now have 4 cm as primary support for a 68 lb sink, still having the standard rodding in place, the bowl clips, and any other structural supports I may find. I have yet to review how adding additional material will affect my new faucet, soap dispenser, or hot water dispenser. May have to go with a full length 4 cm eased edge to camouflage the reinforcement, too. Oh well, it's only money... Fortunately, it's a really small kitchen. Any ideas, comments, or criticisms? Tall people like a higher sink (when it comes to bathroom vanities). Short people like a closer faucet! Remind your husband that a faucet is a cheap experiment--and a DIY one if so inclined. I think I came to this site (one of its earlier incarnations) 50 years ago because of the faucet problem. Too much counter in front of the (kitchen) sink led to back pain. And I was young then! A crazy double-jointed faucet fixed it. It was a cool faucet. :) Ensuing kitchen remodels had us more careful with sink placement--the current kitchen sink cabinets even had the door hinges lowered because the sink would hit them due to its forward position. Spout length is still important, but there are more faucet options if you're starting from a good place.
