am i doing the right thing? winter behavior
Comments (6)If one came with a bloom on it they sound like small band pots of growing own root roses and not dormant bareroot roses. If the temps are not going below freezing you can leave them outside without a problem. I never recommend keeping roses inside. They do not do well. Even in a sunny window they do not get enough sunlight and will waste energy, trying to grow now, that they will need for root growth to establish when you plant them outside later. If it's going below freezing put them in an unheated garage or shed until it goes back above freezing. You can put them out during the day and just put them the garage at night too. It's a hassle but these sound small enough not to be too hard to move in and out....See Moream i doing the right thing?
Comments (16)You can pot them up anytime. I have been really surprised how tough teeny little sprouts can be. Ones I had a lot of, I planted out HOS directly into ground, but others that were really small or I only had a couple of, I transplanted into small pots first. I know many others plant most out directly in the ground though, so it's really a personal preference thing. Tracey, I have done pretty much the same thing. I transplanted the last of my seedlings into pots and in the ground, and have dumped all but one container today. I noticed a little sprout in that container I really wanted, transplanted it and I've decided to give the rest of the seeds another week to shape up, or I'm tossing them too....See MoreAm I doing things right
Comments (11)Never fails, you learn something new as soon as you do the wrong thing. I am thinking fetilizer burn as well. Besides the soil I planted them in, I placed the potash granuals around the palm adn against it (verses slightly away from the plant as I have now learned). We also watered them shorlty thereafter with the mix of liquid root start and water. If this is the cause, what is the best remedy? Replant without all the additives? Thanks again....See MoreFirst case of black tip...am I doing the right thing?
Comments (18)Well dear GW friends. Here is the final score: Black tip-1 Nicole-0 I came home from work, sterilized my surgerical tools( a very sharp blade) prepared to annihilate some black tip, only to discover that my cutting was soft like over cooked spaghetti :(. I'm devasted and disappointed. There was nothing to salvage. I appreciate all the words of wisdom and help....See Morechickadeedeedee
