Wow, what a synch. We had included Volga Blue as one of our favorites in our first round of our granite search. We wanted something black. I also liked the less action ones like Galaxy and Cambrian but my wife wanted something with veins or more action of specs/mica. We also had Midnight Storm and Black Cosmic on the first round list, and we never ran into anything "Mist". At first we picked just on the slab alone, he didn't bring (or even yet had found/chosen) samples of backsplash (going w/ red with pink to black patches subway brick), floor (tile of patchy red/black), or cabinet door (darker stain knotty alder with some glazing in edges). Today, now that we revisited the slab warehouses, and hit a couple of new ones, this time bringing our tile and backsplash and cabinet door samples, it seems Brown Antique has moved into first place. This is a perfect thread for me - amazing everyone has some similar choices/finds (actually just amazing enough places have used the same names I think...) - thanks! I actually saw more green than blue in the Volga Blue. The first trip, I didn't notice it as much. The second trip, comparing to our backsplash/tile/cabinet samples, I wrote on my slab notes sheet "Not the greatest match to our stuff, some green in it (I didn't want to add a new or green tone), I don't think it's a match... but slab guy and DW say I'm wrong" (I admit I suck with colors). Then, after all the granite visits today, we end the day back at the appliance and sink/faucet place, and no way, one of the showrooms has Brown Antique in it! I brought my little Brown Antique sample and put it on the counter, and yep, it's the same. So I went back to the car and got the backsplash/tile/cabinet samples to layout in that showroom, and no way, the Brown Antique looks very different than in the slab place - it has much more brown and much less black to it. I don't know if that's due to the different lighting, the 90 degree change (from upright at slab warehouse to horizontal at on counter), or having my samples on it drawing out different tones. I didn't like the heavy brown, I wanted more black (some brown ok). So, now I'm not sure which granite I favor... and is Brown Anitique more brown or black? So, if you have Brown Anitque - is it more brown or black? How's the care requirements? If you compared the two, which did you decide has more black, and did you compare how much the brown in Brown Antique vs. the green in Volga Blue takes black away from each respective granite?

Your first post is still on page 1! Have you checked the Finished Kitchens Blog (FKB)? As mentioned in the "Read Me" thread, the FKB has pictures of finished kitchens. There is also an "FKB Categories" link on the right navigation panel that will take you to a page that lists things like cabinets (by manufacturer, color, style, etc.), countertop (by type and name), special features, etc. In the case of your question, there is a link for "Volga Blue". Click on it and will list all the kitchens in the FKB that have Volga Blue granite. As to posting pictures, that information is also in the "Read Me" thread. A friendly request: In the future, please bump the current thread rather than starting another one if it's the same question. I havenÂt had a chance to get online and check recent posts but do really enjoy them when I do. I havenÂt actually posted much myself, but appreciate the great advice I read from others! I presume youÂve made your choice but wanted to chime in that I donÂt think you could go wrong with using all of one of the two granites but probably wouldnÂt suggest using both in the very same room. Ironically, we just gutted our kitchen and ripped out Blue Pearl that I had (and thoroughly loved  never tired of it) for 15 years. We are putting in a whole new kitchen and going with Volga Blue this time to change it up a bit. I was steered that direction partly because we are not removing the Blue Pearl slab on our fireplace in the family room/great room right across from the kitchen. Because they will be several feet apart from each other but in eyeshot of one another, I did want something that would mesh well with the Blue Pearl. IÂll be using different granites in our two bathrooms and possibly the laundry room (if we arenÂt able to re-use a salvaged piece of our Blue Pearl). I agree that the answer could be improved lighting. For me, the gorgeous part of Volga Blue are the awesome pops of blue that are totally visible with lighting above. A few simple can lights in your vault above could be terrific. WeÂre doing that and under cabinet lighting and I made it a point to pick slabs with the most blue action I could find. Have you gotten a sample of the Lemurian Blue to take home and look at in your space? The reason I ask is, when I was looking for bathroom vanity counter, I found a great remnant piece that had iridescent blue flecks in it that I really loved (I don't know the specific variety, not necessarily the same as yours, just know it had the iridescent blue bits). But, when I got the sample piece home, I discovered that in my bathroom, in the indoor lighting, you couldn't see the iridescence at all. It just looked like plain dull mousy brown stone. I had to take it outside in the natural light, and hold it at an angle (just like it had been standing on its edge outside in the granite yard) to see that beautiful iridescence again. So, that's a long roundabout way of saying, don't fall in love and plan a whole look around something that might not be what you imagine. Definitely get a sample and see what it looks like in your space, with typical daytime and evening lighting.
