Talk me down or bail me out of jail
Comments (101)hahahahaha - You are so right - I didn't even think about it that way! You guys crack me up! And I thought *I* was the one being sneaky! lol He has me doing all the weeding and mowing the back, too! Now we're *discussing* a vegetable garden. He wants to do it one way, I another. I told him that I was going to do it my way and he could just stay out of it! He's just won again, hasn't he? hmmmm....... beginning to catch on now......See MoreTalk me into or out of keeping this cabinet
Comments (21)The cabinets are built-ins and single pieces that went into the house during construction as far as I can tell. Removing more than that section of cabinets is not an option. I am a kitchen gadgets hoarder and not only is the kitchen filled with stuff, but it has moved into a secondary pantry which is now full and serving dishes are beginning to pile up in the closet of the spare bedroom! I'd love to use the mixer color as an accent color, but my husband hates it. I'm thinking of doing a darker cream type color on the wall (instead of the red) and slowly bringing in bits and pieces that match the green and he won't even notice until it's too late. I think that removing the doors will make the cabinet look weird. The left two doors on it are one section, and the 3rd on the right is on it's own. Right now I'm really liking the idea of shelves, but I'm just not sure if I'm missing something big and I'll grow to hate them. Regarding the popcorn ceiling. We're keeping it, but it appears to extend back behind the cabinet. We're going to have someone coming in to patch the drywall from the wall removal, so if/when they do that, they could come in, touch up the wall, and the ceiling at the same time....See MorePlease, please talk me out of getting these
Comments (9)I'm with lauriedeee on this one. Step away and think about whether you can and actually WILL use these tiles before making an impulse purchase. I am currently storing tile that I picked out for a bathroom and tile that I picked out for my kitchen and it's not pretty. Yes, the price is good, but if you don't have somewhere you absolutely will use it, then it will end up a waste of money and storage space. Take a deep breath and look at your house. Is there a space you absolutely will remodel and this is the perfect tile? Or are you trying to fit the tile in somewhere just because the price is good? Do you know the exact quantity you need or will you end up purchasing a bundle of tile only to discover you didn't purchase enough or you purchased way too much? If you find a project for it, do you have somewhere to actually store the tile for a long time until you get to that project?...See MoreHelp me figure out where to put this so I can talk DH into it!
Comments (5)I saw it, I love it! It's antique, from TX (a plus for DH), PO had brought it up, new owner took it out has decorated condo contemporary. If I want it delivered I have to get it tomorrow though, since the DS is down from Boston with his huge Suburban. TV won't fit on the lower shelf in front of mirror (2" too tall!), so I'm thinking DR. Measured and I only need to take 1/8" off each horn of the window stools, or, since they're pine, I'm thinking replace the window stools and trim with oak, actually build it in by overlapping the window casing onto the back board rather than leaving 1/2" of paint b/t them? Or... put it on the garage wall at the head of the table, I'd center it on the chandy/table since then it would be centered b/t the wall outlets. Add another outlet in the middle for electric FP? We'd have to move the table and the chandy down toward the stairs a bit, the lower shelf on the mantel is 12" deep, I have 20" from wall to back of chair right now, 12" from wall to edge of rug. It really could help disguise the off-center sconce locations (with a little bit wider trim but it needs to be trimmed out after installation to hide screws - can see holes where it used to be installed). MBR is still a possibility - I always wanted a FP (would have to be electric) in the BR. Might be hard to get up the stairs at 80" tall. I just want it! It's got so much character, it has some scratches (incl 1 on the mirror) but it hasn't been stripped and refinished to look all shiny and new. Doesn't look bad for its age (unknown, but old), I'd leave it alone....See Morectlane
