What a great rug! On my monitor, the blue looks like a deep turquoise blue(?) which would be tough to match. I would be inclined to go with a white/off-white to match the shade in the flower and use art, pillows and accents to bring in more of the blue and olive from the rug. The pillows could have some texture and interesting shapes, possibly some pattern if it doesn't fight with the rug. I also think that a white spread would look awesome against that beautiful wood floor.

If you're planning to paint, would you consider pulling the olive background color out of the rug, perhaps a lighter shade of it?

I'm definitely not a decorator so I'll be interested to see what the pros have to say.

Very pretty rug!

I would not use blue bedding or print bedding - I would use an ivory/off-white comforter matching the white in the rug with blues and earthy green pillows that have a lot of texture.. The color of the mattress looks good with it :).

Are you planning on painting the walls? Sherwin Williams Rice Grain has a subtle green undertone that would look good with the olive in the background of the rug or look at other light earthy-greens.

Modern, blingy table lamps would look nice or a blue that matches. That color blue may be hard to get right.

Solid or shadow stripe white!

I have shadow stripe white bedding with a heavily patterned curtain... love the look!

I think I like the creamy white idea.

I wish I could paint, but it's a rental and we aren't allowed. Although we already don't deserve our deposit back for trying to install curtains, only to find the space above the window is a solid metal beam...sooo....how much worse can it get? ;)

So maybe something basic and smooth like this one in the "natural" or "taupe"?

Or this one with shadow stripes in the ivory? or maybe the graphite? That might be too hard to coordinate with the dark olive.

Or maybe go for a solid olive like this one?

I'm liking bringing out the lighter color, but the husband is putting up resistance, wanting to go darker (because it wouldn't look dirty as fast). Would that be at all workable, you think?

I understand. If the walls are staying the same creamy white color that they appear, the solid olive comforter might be a good look... if it matches well enough with the background color of the rug. You'd have to see them together to know for sure. Some great textured and shaped pillows in shades of cream (nothing too frilly) would look fantastic against the olive.

Going with olive would probably address your husband's concern nicely. I don't see a gray complementing the rug as much.

Beautiful rug! Because greens are so tricky to get right, I'd think about buying one you could return with no expense or hassle. If you have a jcpenney near you, maybe check there. I found this one, and even though they call it sage, it looks very similar in tone to your rug background (but monitors are so tricky). It looks like all sizes are the same price; if your bed is a queen, I might get a king for a more luxurious look.

You could go with something like this one and then throw in some blue accent pillows....

have you considered going with a duvet cover? Easy to change depending on mood and season. I'm partial to IKEA. They have a solid duvet/sheet set that's high thread and slightly shiny. Also comes in blue, perhaps for sheets.

I was just going to recommend the pleated puckered ones from west elm. I think they'd add some nice texture and movement without a pattern. On my monitor the background looks like the green leans very gray-- if so, I think a liter gray would be great.

If your husband wants darker, I'd be tempted to give a go at finding a turquoise that matches or is at least tonal. Yes, it will be hard to match but it's an on trend color and you have plenty of options. I have bought a few comforters and throws from The Company Stores recently for dorm room gifts-- and I'll say that their colors tend to be a little darker/less bright than photographed. I think it would be worth trying them-- and I've always had good luck with their quality. Based on my experience with the same line (I bought purple), I'd try the Prussian Blue.. again, no promises on color so make sure they have a great/easy return policy.. but i think it could work for you and make a stunning room.

While I really like the suggestions of non-patterned (just textured) bedding. I don't think it's out of the question to do patterned bedding. I think you might have to try a few to see what works and what's overwhelming or clashing.

I like the idea of doing a small/medium graphic print that pulls out the blue and/or gray in the rug.

I saw this one from West Elm and thought it might be able to work. It's quite bold, so it might be too much.

This CB2 one seems like the pattern could be a bit too big, but it's hard to say. I think it could work.

This Crate and Barrel bedding is really pretty and has a very subtle pattern. I'm not certain whether the floral motif will mix well with the rug, but I think it could work because the pattern is so subtle.

Anthropologie also has some really beautiful bedding right now that might work.

It doesn't necessarily have to match the blue in your rug. A pale blue could go as well I think.

I need new glasses. I read "Picking a computer would look good with my rug" I am obviously of no help.

I think the room needs the drama of a dark color comforter, and I think the Prussian blue fits the ticket. I think a cream or ivory is too much contrast from the rug to the bed. Walls ok in light color as well as furniture but the bed needs some drama and this is from someone whose bedroom is totally tone on tone whites.
