Comments (9)I live in Texas where it gets brutally hot in the summer and I use reflective insulation boards to shield the sides of the containers..In your region it might not be necessary but it might not hurt to shade them. As Shown..old pic 4 weeks old..shielding the north and west sides of the containers. I'll have to update my pictures soon because peeps have wondered how well the HM Earthbox(tm) containers were working. UPDATED PICS TODAY Happy gardening..:)...See MoreIs multi-color flooring okay?
Comments (6)You can do anything you want in your own house, of course but having some continuity between flooring really does help the "flow" of your house. If you're talking about wood, laminate, etc., I think you should aim to have a max of two in your house (this number is not based on any real reasoning, just my opinion). Of course, different floor materials are a different thing. Personally, I'd aim to try to get some continuity going in your flooring. I'd try to avoid real or engineered woods next to laminates but I think that might make the laminates look, well, like laminates, although sometimes a laminate can look like a pretty good version of wood if it's not near the real thing. So to answer your question: Would I throw another wood in there? Nope, and in fact I'd try to change out some other flooring to get better flow going. Comments (5)Your cottage kitchen sounds lovely! I have a single-bowl rectangular stainless apron sink, with a Victorian style bridge faucet. I love it! Although I love the bridge faucet, it's huge, and if the sink was smaller than 33", it might look out of proportion. (Not that it would matter that much--my small kitchen is pretty quirky, LOL.) Bridge faucets usually have separate (expensive) sprayers, too, unless you get one with the middle mixer post, so that's something else to consider. I added a filter faucet into the mix, and some codes require an air-gap, so it can get crowded. You might start a thread asking for pics of 27" or smaller, sinks with bridge faucets. Oh, and as for finish--I ended up with ORB because of a good deal, but I don't think you can go wrong with chrome in a 1940's cottage. Good luck--looking forward to seeing your finished kitchen. Comments (15)Nice stone-may look richer in color with a good properly applied color enhancer. Just curious as to why you don't like it. If it is because it is blotchy or spotty the application may have been incorrect. I think verde lavras is quite is quite dense so the color enhancer must go on very thin and then buff off so it feels dry. think of the honed surface as a microscopic English muffin. The color enhancer just needs to settle in the nooks and crannies. There isn't any absortion into the stone so the product must be treated as a topical sealant. It should look pretty good if applied that way. I hope that makes sense....See More- 16 years ago
