Mine (such as they are) hang on the oven door handle. My kids know they are not for every day use (insert husband rolling eyes here) and they're supposed to use a towel from the drawer or a paper towel if they need to wipe something up.

I wish I could hang mine on the oven door. When we remodeled I put an oven under a glass cook top and the oven ended up a tad low. I've tried hanging my towels there and it looks odd.

LOL about the husband eye roll. I'm making some faux Easter cupcakes for kitchen decor and hubby totally does not get it. "Why are you spending so much time making something I can't eat."

I have the "to be used" one on the dishwasher handle, and the "for show" one on the oven door handle, but because no one cares what I think, they both get used. I just love it when I walk into the kitchen to find one of my teenage boys wiping his dirty face on the towel...

I have hooks on either side of the kitchen window. One holds the towel for hand drying the other for dish drying. I also have a towel on the oven door that's strictly decorative. The one on the trash/recycle cabinet is to protect the cabinet door, but since we use the foot pedal to open the door it's become more a decorative towel too.

I loop mine through the refrigerator handle. The frig is near the sink, which is where I need the towel.

I collect linens when I travel - they are relatively inexpensive souvenirs and don't weigh much or take up too much room in luggage that had to fit in the overhead or on a train. I've framed some of them. The rest sit in a dark lidded basket. I visit them every once in awhile. I tell myself I need to find joy in using them, but they're too pretty to use!!

The Dutch women I knew kept a utilitarian, wipe-your-hands towel, in their kitchen covered by a decorative one. Forget about training a husband or children not to use the decorative one - I don't think I could train myself on that!

I put a strong magnetic hook on my dishwasher for the towel. Except it falls off when I use the DW. lol. That's the only place for them, but since I keep two towels going everyday, they're usually messily folded next to the sink. :)

Oh, when I got married my dh did the same thing, wiping his face on the towels. I put my foot down and it's worked ever since!

I used to hang mine on the oven door but I got tired of everyone crumpling it up and having it look bad all the time so I had my DH install a towel rack on the side of the island. Now it's where I need it but you don't see it when you walk in the kitchen. Guess you want yours to be seen so that doesn't help much!

In the past I always hung my towels on the oven or refrigerator door. In this house though, the fridge and the oven are both quite a few steps from the sink. Tired of dripping water on the floor, my husband asked me to place towels closer to the sink area. I have a corner sink with a raised triangular ledge right above it that is the perfect spot for a towel stand. Since I had already placed a decorative lamp there, I wanted a towel stand that was both attractive and shorter than the lamp. I went on amazon and found a copper finish metal fingertip towel rack that was just the right height. Also, since my decor is french country, it complemented some copper pieces that I already had. Isn't it funny that men/boys of all ages seem to be hard wired to ignore our simple requests NOT to use the items that are "just for looks"? They just don't get it.

Thanks for sharing your kitchen towel solutions. I think in my situation I may need to go with something like southernfrenchie pointed out.

Currently my decorative towel is on a magnetic bar on the side of the fridge. It is safe from male paws but also is not very visible. It will be interesting to see how good DH's manners are if I hang a pretty one next to the sink.

I put hooks on the side of my island that is nearest the sink.

Hang then on the oven door handle.

I buy towels in sets of two and have 2 towel rings mounted on the side of the upper cupboards on either side of my kitchen window above the sink. I got rid of all towels that were too sad looking to be seen or didn't match. The rings are high enough so that the towels barely hang below the cabinet and the ring keeps them looking neat since my towels are definitely for being used. DH finds it easy to re-hang the towels on the rings so that's an added bonus.

When I use thinner ones for drying dishes and want to dry those for re-use later, I hang them on a hook in the pantry.

Mine are inside the cabinet, below the sink. I know they are nice towels when I use them...and then out of sight they go!

I keep them on the oven door as well. They are pretty but do get used. I don't mind DH using them but I do mind that he seems to not be able to put them back after use.

I know they are used because they are crumpled up on the counter after use.:)gotta love'em.

I am like lesterd-inside the doors under the sink-one side for hands, one for drying dishes when needed. I like having nice ones, but don't want them on display.

I buy pretty towels when I see them too. I have a hook on the side corner of the upper cabinet to the right of my sink, and that is where the towel hangs. My kitchen has cabinet/window over the sink/cabinet...that is how I manage to have a corner over the sink for the hook.
