The large curved wall is "large" in the height--18 ft. The framed picture is about 56" X 46". I had to elevate the bamboo in an over sized oriental fish bowl with a stand. In this case, the print alone wouldn't have been enough, I hope it is proportional to the space.

I would do something visually interesting on the wall-- in addition to the print. One of my sisters has two antique boat oars on one of her walls.. her son who is into WWII renactments has a wild array of memorabilia on one of his walls. It doesn't necessarily have to hang-- standing tall like mustang's plant works too. What are his interests? I don't get much of a sense of who your son is from the photo-- but I'd recommend something personal or interesting to him. I think that will greatly enhance the room and make it a fun refuge for him.

Some ideas..
vintage sports equipment (masks, hats, bats, sticks, tennis rackets)
musical instruments
A shelf with boats or planes
sailing flags

I don't know my brain isn't working so well today and it really should be something personal to him-- hope that gave you some ideas though.

mustangs--I love what you've done with the art, plant and bench. Everything works.

funkyart--funny you should mention WWII. DS is nuts for that era. He has a lot of memorabilia from that era from his grandfather. Would it seem odd to do a vertical collage toward the doorway of this memorabilia even though it has nothing to do with the print? His job is very high stress and he liked the serenity of the print. But he's passionate about the memorabilia. Would this look right? Or should he really care and just use whatever means something to him?

I think an important part of alleviating stress is to have a comfortable personal space to unwind in. If he is nuts for the WWII stuff then that sounds like a great thing to work into the room.. and it is all the better because the collection is a part of your family history.

I am not so sure the print will work with WWII memorabilia but I'd give it a try. If they don't work so well, maybe you can try the memorabilia beside the dresser...or the print in the bathroom? No matter what or where, I think the room will definitely benefit from some personal touches.

Let us know what your son thinks-- and what you come up with! It could be a really cool project for the two of you.

How about putting the new print over the bed and moving the map print that is currently over the bed to the other wall? WWII memorabilia arranged around / with the map would probably relate more to the map rather than the other print.

Sjt -- You're doing a great job in there and the room is already quite handsome. I think the memorabilia on the wall would be perfect. You can experiment with placement with one of you holding something up and the other standing back to look. It will make the room far more interesting to everyone who sees it, and also more homey and dear to your son. How special to have those things from his grandpa. If anything is delicate, it can be mounted/framed inside a shadowbox for safekeeping.

What great suggestions with the memorabilia. I think the map idea is great and the bonus is a geography lesson.
