eBay Range hood anyone?
Comments (6)Writersblock - actually eBay changed its policy a year or two ago. Sellers cannot give negative feedback at all, no matter what the Buyer has done (i.e. not paid), or what kind of feedback the Buyer has left for the Seller. Furthermore, prior to this change, if, as you mentioned, eBay removed both feedbacks at the request of both parties (both parties had to agree to the feedback removal), the Feedback score would clearly state the number of feedbacks that "were mutually withdrawn". If you saw more than, say, "2 mutually withdrawn", you would know that the Seller was prone to giving retaliatory feedback, and that there is likely a problem with the seller even with a 100% score. Sorry to go OT, but Writersblock was misleading. Where eBay feedback ratings are meaningless now is pertaining to Buyers, since Sellers are prohibited from giving negative feedback. I have to agree that the eBay seller that Busybme linked above looks to have an impressive feedback history. Furthermore, I like that the Seller has provided a direct phone number, which so many eBay sellers do not. The OP can call the Seller, and see what the person says....See MoreChinese Oriental Range Hoods....anyone have them?
Comments (2)We had a new 36" ?Sakura" stainless steel one w/ ~600+ cfm BUT never got to install it. My aunt had a similar one and it was very loud but worked great at removing everything: grease/fumes, etc. The grease-drip-catcher was great; just remove that/those trays and clean it; no messy filters. If you do install one, think about a remote blower w/ a silencer. I thought the ?Zephyr? is similar in cfm and cost...maybe not......See MoreCleaning Service--what do you have them do?
Comments (31)Interesting topic. I have had a single lady do entire house by herself. She left b/c it made more $en$e for her to work in a team and I was also growing tired of having her for several hours in my house. The parting was on good terms. Have had teams and the upside is there here and gone in no time, but when teams change b/c somebody gets fired, sick, etc., I always notice things out of place or cleaned unlike I specified. New people in teams = retraining and I really don't like having to be on constant watch to ensure consistency. But overall, I think a team is best, as mine has insurance if something is broken or damaged. Nobody does my laundry, makes my bed or cleans fridge or oven. I hired them to dust all, vacuum, polish furniture, clean windows, fans, cabinets and doors every 15 da. Will give them a little extra if I have visitors, in which case they do make that bed, and whatever extra is caused by the visit. Used Home Advisors to get my latest cleaning service. On an unrelated subject, I once recommended my cleaning service to a neighbor that turned out to be a sleaze ball and they didn't pay the lady for 3 months. I was mortified that I hooked her up with the slimeballs, so I doubt I will recommend anybody to avoid this kinda stuff....See MoreSakura range hood - anyone have one?
Comments (6)We have a Sakura R-747 in our house. We bought the house from it's original owner, who was from Hong Kong. The house was built in 1994, and I'd assumed this hood was also from 1994 since virtually everything else in the house was original. We still have all the original Whirlpool kitchen appliances which have manufacture dates in 1994. After looking up some specs on this hood, I'm not totally sure it's original. It seems too powerful to be builder-grade. That said, the builders used Trane HVAC units which were still functioning perfectly fine when we decided to replace them this summer. Anyways, I'm curious to know when the R-747 (not the version II) was manufactured. Ours is so unbelievably gross right now, though it still functions perfectly fine as far as I can tell. We just ordered a new GE Profile range, because the old whirlpool has ignitor issues and I broke a knob off. I'm also concerned it might be a fire hazard in high temp usages. This new GE has much more powerful burners and had electric convection. It's gonna produce a lot of heat. I originally planned to replace the Sakura hood, but after looking up the specs I'm wondering if its better to just keep it. We're going to remodel the kitchen in 5 years or so, so all this stuff will be going on the trash then anyway. I don't want to spend a lot to replace a hood that I'm only going to use for a few years. The range we'll at least be able to resell, but i have a feeling that a used hood won't sell easily. I do at least need to raise the height of the hood. It's currently only 5ft off the ground, and I'm 6'-4". It's a royal pain in the ass to use the range with this hood where it is. We have extra room below the cabinet to raise it though, and i can easily reroute the duct and wiring....See Morecraig00
