Dream Dinners???

Has anyone ever bought these?? It is a place you can go monthly and make and take the entre part of 12 dinners. Already for the frezzer.

I went last night with my CURVES group, we all got to make a free dinner for 3 I picked Honey~herb glazed chicken breast we are having them tonight. They have everything there and you just add all of the ingreds to your liking.

I am thinking of going and making 12 dinners to have in the freezer for my DH and DS to make dinners when I have my Hyster next month. Average price about $150 for the 12. I know it is pricey but very easy peasy and I do think better tasting than grocery store freezer entres.

Tell me if you have done this or know someone that has???

We have a place here called Evening Meals! Everyone that has been there loves it!
And if you don't want to make it, they will make it for you! Of course, an additional charge.

I have my chicken breast already for the b-b-q and they are thin I had to pull out some legs I just bought for another meal to add to them or it will not be enough for my DS and DH they eat alot. Maybe it would be OK for me and one of my guys but not both:( POOH I do not think this will work for us.

Les, this picture of Dream Queen was taken on June 12, 2012. It is growing well under spruce trees and has a northern exposure, so it does not get a lot of sun but it is well watered. I planted it at the same soil level as in the nursery pot. I've had to repot my Dream Weaver as it was not doing well in the ground in an eastern exposure, which by all accounts should be a superior location. I believe the difference in growth can be explained by the amount of WATER they received. I think water is the key to a hosta thriving and sunshine is key to the rate of growth. But these are not new concepts to this forum. So to answer your question I would say that water is more important than the amount of sunshine that DQ and DW get as long as the amount of sunshine is adequate.

I enjoy cooking but I have alot going on and there are times when I am pressured because I must have TIME to cook. I find meal planning helps as does the crock pot, making a meal that will feed us more than once (leftovers which is pretty easy since there are just two of us), etc. I do NOT enjoy grocery shopping at all. I try lots of new recipes - lately thanks to Pinterest and Facebook. Many are keepers although I've tried a few that were definitely not. Tonight is a chicken/dressing casserole with roasted sweet potatoes and I have not decided what other veggie - or perhaps I will do a salad instead. Keeping salad items ready and on hand is another big help for us. tina

Thanks for the ideas! I thought that I could measure out and pack the dry ingredients for simple easy step meals and include the recipe card all together in a single pack/ bag so that Dad or my nieces could just throw it together. I'd pack about 4 meals or so into a box and mail it weekly. I'd also include a grocery list in each box for all of the wet ingredients or meat that would go into the recipes. Then all Dad would have to do is shop and then all they would need to do is measure out the wet ingredients and throw it all together. I'd also include a gift cert. to a local pizza shop or something else that is nearby. I really like the soup idea - there are so many good dry mixes out there! And I know she likes all kinds of breads! It's a shame that I can't get the Martha Stewart mac and cheese to her that I make and she requests all of teh time when we're together! Too many steps and ingredients for Dad or the kids to handle. I will def. check out the Wife Saver store - sounds perfect! Any little bit to help. Thank you for your thoughts - I will begin researching simple recipes to put together for them. Annie - my daughter's name is Eleri!

Put some ham or turkey into a grilled cheese sandwich. Hamburger (or ground pork or sausage or a mixture) makes chili, sloppy joes, spaghetti, tater tot hotdish, tacos and a myriad of other things. Pork chops in cream soup/milk mixture makes its own gravy. Submarine sandwiches. Meatball subs using frozen meatballs & canned marinars sauce, topped with cheese, onion, green pepper or whatever you like. A plain old sandwich with good deli meats and cheeses on a good bread or bun is a treat. Canned and frozen veggies are a good assistant. How about a veggie tray? Chef's salad? Nachos can be hearty if you top it with some cut up cooked turkey, chicken, hamburger or what-have-you. Making lasagna isn't difficult. The pasta package has a good basic recipe and just add what your like. For that matter making a meatloaf isn't complicated. A good quality sausage and some rice or sauerkraut if you like it is easy. Decent hot dogs decked out how you like them. The whole point is you're not going to have YOUR cooking. Hopefully you'll enjoy a change of menu during your recuperation. BTW, putting a turkey in the roaster, or a ham or even a pot roast doesn't have to be that difficult or complicated. Bake some potatoes, salad or frozen/canned veg can be a source of pride for an accomplishment. Do you have any community cookbooks? Church, community or school fundraiser types? They usually have a lot of simple, homestyle recipes and give good detail if needed. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

My MIL's friend owns a similar place. We went and made a whole bunch of meals. (her prices are about the same-but she says they serve 4 adults?) In theory, this place is great. Especially since I'm in a rut of what to fix, and I'll be overwhelmed when new baby arrives. But in reality, I didn't think the meals were that fabulous. My DH liked it since we could just pop one in the oven and it was basically done. A few of the dinners, I'd pick again, but the rest were forgetable-I guess I'm just really picky?

forgot to add, you need a lot of freezer space if you purchase the 12 meal plan. Our friend will let you split the plan with a friend if you need.

OK we ate it and it was OK but it would have cost $11.07 for the 3 chicken breast:( My guys gobbled up the 4 extra legs I made so I think it is a bust for us. i will just get stuff from CostCo and I saw some interesting easy stuff at Fresh and Easy:)

We have Super Suppers here. I bought several of them about a year ago, but it came as no surprise to me that my dh, also known as Mr. Picky, didn't like them. In my opinion they were alright, but not great. I never went back.

We have Super Suppers here also. I've been a few times and lilked almost everything I had (in fact I ate the rest of one yesterday). I think it is great fun and very easy and good, but too pricy. One boring day at work I spent some time looking on the internet for some crockpot recipes and then I went to CostCo for chicken and veggies and I spent about 2 hours making my own Super Suppers type meals to keep in the freezer to prepare when I have a craving. I am almost through with those so I need to have another cooking session to fill my freezer back up.

I will say though that I will definitely go back to SS when they have "Tandoori Pork with Lentils" again. It was one of the best meals I have ever cooked. It was healthy and so delicious and I can't find a similar recipe anywhere. I will go back, make a few portions, and copy the recipe this time! Man, it was good!

Sorry for the book, but un summary; I really like Super Suppers. I like the convenience, the variety, making somehting new and different, the free sapmles, etc. My only complaint is the price. I can do myself for much cheaper....but will I? Thats the catch.
