Master bath 'update' is now a 're-do' (pics)(xpost to Home Dec)
Comments (0)My "later on" master bath "update" turned into "more" and "now" due to a leaking shower pan. My house is a 1964 ranch originally built with sort of a "french/english country" feel. My "update" plans were to replace the sink/fixtures and countertops, texture/paint walls, re-paint cabinets and frame the mirror, still sticking with the beige/cream/taupe color scheme. Bedroom hasn't been redone. . .now it will follow the bath. The leaking shower pan added a complete shower gut/re-do/new shower fixtures (maybe a multi-head and in-out swing door). I'm afraid just replacing the shower pan and attempting to re-use the tile or match it would just look bad. I would like to keep the original floor tile and for a couple of reasons do not plan on pulling out the bulkhead or re-doing the ceiling (although it's not totally out of the question) the "big bath" for the other two bedrooms has a similar tile in white/brushed gold and the same bulkhead and that trim is all over the house (and I kind of like it. . .guess I'm a 60's kind of gal!!). So, I'm thinking just putting in 3 cans or pendants, probably cans. . .while they are beautiful, I don't like pendants in my bathroom. . tend to bang them into the mirror/wall). Will replace the large mirror with single mirrors over the lavatory and make-up area and add an electrical outlet in the space between them and change ceiling heater to a vent/heater. Probably replace the shutters (like the shutters, the inserts not so much and can't figure out how to get them out. . or how to put something in). My biggest concern is the floor. . .do you think it's salvageable and do you think I can find something for the shower that will blend. I do want some accent tiles in the shower, maybe glass?? FWIW, I'm not a "blue" person. . .more soft greens, taupe, greys, red/burgandy/pink and yellows. Any thoughts on how much, what kind, and what color of lipstick I can put on this little piggy would be greatly appreciated!!...See Morehelp! Pics att'ched. Need paint for Master Bath - photoshop??
Comments (19)Thank you oh so much for your help. I think I have seen ever color I ever liked and you are so correct they look different under certain lights, monitors, etc. I see what you mean about choosing the undertone and sticking with that. THANK YOU! BM does offer a service - use to be free now they charge 15.00. I liked it better free b/c I think they did a better job!! You upload your pics to them and they send you 2 possible palettes - in my case 3 - and they pick all colors for you. Their first choice was FIELDSTONE for me which according to my swatch goes khaki (they send swatches..). Their second choice was Capallano Bridge which I do love but don't think it goes so great wtih the carera marble. Last choice was Shaker Grey which is REALLY deep but I actually do like it. Definately not khaki!! :) Thanks a million for your help. Painter comes on Monday. I will let you know how it goes! THANKS! Melissa...See Moregrey/black master bedroom...what color for master bath?

Comments (27)We are replacing the tile due to cracking and other issues. Updating both our bathrooms for resale in foreseeable future (empty nesters). Our hallway bath will be black and white basket weave on the floor and white subway in tub area. Very excited about this as our first house in 1988 had the original black and white and we have always loved that look. We had no idea it was "in" until we went tile shopping and of course Pinterest ha . We found these two hex patterns. The one on the left is standard hex. The one on the right is marble ( I assume it's real ??) The second one is clearly a nicer and thicker tile, but what about the marble? Is this the best of both worlds or still not right to go with the blue vintage tile? I am not crazy about the size of the tiles. Would go with penny tile as suggested by CP, but no go for hubby....See MoreRelated Professionals
