faucet finish? stainless?? nickel?? pros/cons pls
Comments (9)I agree with others who say you don't need to match the stainless of your appliances or your sink. IMHO, a stainless or brushed nickel faucet is a more contemporary look, a polished nickel faucet is more traditional--you'll particularly see polished nickel faucets in the bridge style to emphasize the traditional look. Also, the brushed and stainless finishes won't show fingerprints the way polished finishes would. I myself chose polished chrome for my Grohe Ladylux Plus faucet for the following reasons: (a) my kitchen decor is "transitional", i.e. neither contemporary nor traditional, and chrome is also transitional--it can go in either style, (b) I really like the shine of polished chrome, so bright and cheerful, which I prefer to the matte look of stainless or brushed nickel, just my personal taste, and (c) polished chrome was so much cheaper. So it cost less, and I liked the look, so not much of a decision for me....See Morewhat's the consensus on pro style faucets?
Comments (7)I just saw blancos new line up of faucets today at a trade show. Gorgeous and well made. I liked the buttons and the locking spray. They have a life time warranty and the head can be screwed off and sent to customer service for replacement. (This is true of many faucets) I was told that the replacements are sent immediately. The faucets were hooked up and I thought the water pressure was fine. I was also extremely impressed with Brizo. I spoke to many of the major faucet manufacturers today and most agreed that consumers are preferring pull down. Colored faucets will also be coming out - kohler is making a few- you can check their website. They are also making limited edition colored enamel sinks in various colors. Blanco is making faucets to match their silgranite sinks....See MoreProfessional style pulldown faucets
Comments (4)Wow, great feedback and fast too! @Green: good advice, though I will say that my water quality appears pretty good. I base that mainly on the three drip irrigation systems I run. I clean the filters twice a year, but there is typically virtually no debris despite running hundreds of gallons of water through them. @David: Great references, esp the last post you linked to regarding "semi-pro/commercial faucets." I was immediately reminded of the problems with a true commercial prerinse unit, which I had been told of three years ago. Also fun to see the video of the KWC, which was the faucet I had almost gotten originally. Looks great, probably would have been worth the $1200 back then. Some of the other faucets like the Elevate look fun, but we are trying to stick with the metal coil/prerinse look as the island and sink are so huge that the scale demands a really big faucet. The good news: Blanco customer service responded within 30 minutes of sending a message through their website, and they are sending out a new diverter and sprayer. That will at least allow us to buy some time. Though after seeing the video I suspect DW will still push for the KWC. Her offer was pretty good though......See MoreClawfoot Tub - Hard To Get Out Of And Faucet Placement Pros and Cons
Comments (31)You have all provided great information for to me consider. I've moved from absolutely wanting a claw foot tub to not wanting one! However, I still want a tub. I'm remembering that in a previous house I had a soaker-tub with a 12" tile surround that I could sit on and swing into the tub. And I was in my 30s but we also installed grab bars and it worked for me. I'm now looking at soaker-tub options. One is only 19" to step over (my current tub is a 24" step over). Might work. * I should have mentioned before that we're also installing a 42" x 42" shower with seat. The tub is just to satisfy my "I wanna be a tub woman" longing. auntthelma: "if I'm not a tub person, why would I invest in a nice tub?' lindsey: "Buy for the life you have, not the one you wish you had." In thinking about it ... I believe that if a person wants to paint, they should paint. If they want to travel, they should pack up and go. If I don't install the tub I'll wonder, what if ..." Too damn old to let opportunity pass by. All of your posts have been thoughtful and helpful and funny! Thank you all and keep um coming. I'll keep you posted on progress ......See Morenadianyc
