I commented on this thread a while back when I was trying to decide between the silgranite white or a darker color. I really wanted white because I thought it'd be prettier but I was afraid of the potential staining problems. Well I went for it and got the silgranite super single sink in white from home depot online. Even though the pictures don't show it, I bought the matching grate as well. I think the grate is a good investment as it protects both the sink and your dishes if you happen to drop them. It's been about 7 months now and I'm still so happy with my choice. I haven't had any problems with staining. I am careful with it as I would be with any item that cost me $300+ but I don't feel it's extreme. I always rinse out the sink after I use it and do at least a weekly clean with a liquid soft scrub unless I've done a lot of cooking. I have a bunch of microfiber cloths I got from Amazon that I use to wipe off any water spray on the counters' edge by the sink. I am meticulous about this because I have very hard water. Overall I love this sink. It's functional and beautiful.

This thread is just what I needed to see. Tinker your kitchen is beautiful and all of you are so helpful. tinker: what color stain did you use for cabinets and flooring? Are your cabinets maple or cherry? I also like the gold color paint you used...that is one color I'm starting to look at for my own kitchen but will it blend well going into my family room and dining room? What color did you paint your kitchen? I too am redoing my kitchen and will be refinishing and restaining my hardwood floors. The company I am using told me I had red oak floor. I have contracted with an Amish Cabinet maker and still have to decide on color of cabinets as well. Have made the decision to go with maple cabinets but have yet to make the decision on color of them. I wanted Cherry but my budget won't allow the. My dilemma is whether to stain the cabinets a white/cream with glaze because I've had white and have grown found of that or to change it up and stain them something like tinker has. I'm just wondering whether dark or light cabinets give more options for chosing paint color and granite countertops? I know very soon, my husband will ask, "what color paint" and rush me to make a decision that I might regret. Paint is very hard for me to pick out. Should I have countertops picked before paint? I haven't even looked at those yet...figured I'd wait till closer to finish line for that. I'm going to post two links for you all. The less vs fewer also bothers me, but I never say anything about it because it is so prevalent. I told someone once that "less" is the comparative for "little", and if "little" does not fit in the sentence, then "less" should not be used. It's easier to remember that "less" can only be used with singular nouns while "fewer" must be used with plural nouns, or at least that's the way it was taught to me in the third grade. My grandmother and mother were both English teachers, and my grandmother was extremely intolerant of grammatical errors. English was her second language, and she only spoke German until she was seven. I think that in 50 years, no one will use what was considered proper grammar in the 20th Century and earlier.

I was using the term 'assistant' in a general sense. I didn't get a look at her badge, and she didn't introduce herself, except to say that she needed to ask some questions. If I'd known she was a PA, I'd have identified her as such in the OP. I wouldn't call her a receptionist--to me a receptionist is the person behind the desk, taking my name (and money), and scheduling appointments. It doesn't matter to me if she's an actual PA, or a nurse, or a NA who was just hired yesterday--if she works in a physician's office she should know basic medical terminology, and should be able to read the words on a sheet of paper. I used to work in an office in the same hospital complex, and before I was hired I was given a basic medical terminology test. My husband taught medical terminology, as well as courses in his chosen field, in the allied health program at our local college. As I mentioned, FIL was a medic and EMT. MIL was an RN. My sister-in-law is a nurse prac, and my son is a paramedic. Maybe being around folks in the medical field has made me more aware of minor mistakes, but colonoscopy is a very common term. Since we're speaking of colonoscopies, everyone, please make sure you have your screenings. I had mine in July--not fun, but now I can relax for a few years.
