Two more Lima x night star individuals have flowered. This one has four rather healthy looking flowers: But this one is the best - very large flowers, bigger than either parent, with a very pleasing light pink wash on narrow whitish petals. They are not all open yet, but there are six buds on this scape. This one is definitely a keeper.

Haiti Doc! This may very well be true, but my second bulb of Night Star has bloomed. It is from a completely different source and is almost identical to my other picture. I have seen this many times before, especially with the pink/white varieties such as Apple Blossom. The depth of the color changes with the amount of light. I sometimes wonder if temperature has anything to do with it or the number of hours in a day, but based on observation, I am leaning toward the amount of light. It would be interesting to study this, but unfortunately, I don't have the time to experiment. Anyway, I adore the frilly white with the dark pink star, so I'm more than satisfied with what I have.... I'll post a pic later of the blooms on the second bulb when I get a chance. I don't think I'm going to watch this year. They lost me due to some of the 'stars' they've included in recent years ... Jerry Springer, Chloris Leachman and a couple of really big guys I can't remember their names, but they obviously had no interest in learning to dance. Maybe I'll jump in during the last half of the season when they've weeded out the ones who should never have been included in the first place.

As this one opens out, it looks more and more like its Night Star parent. The colour looks different here from the earlier picture is it is on a dull drizzly late afternoon as opposed to the earlier bright morning sunlight. I’ve moved a bunch of cybisters and crosses to our Community Garden and named the hillside ‘Cybister Hill’
