I'm not clear on whether you have any AOL software installed on your computer or not. If so, that might explain the difference you're seeing. Did you have software installed on your last computer but are you now using the web interface only ? Or have you been using the webmail interface all along ? And, pardon my curiosity... what is it that annoys you about the inclusion of the original message ? Is it the fact that it's there at all ? In that case, you'll have to manually remove the original message each time (see link in last paragraph below) or use a desktop client which can be set NOT to include the original when replying. Or is the annoyance just that the original message is so close to the first line of your reply ? If this is the case, you could do what I do: just hold the "Enter" button down for a few seconds to push the original message down the screen a bit and give you more 'breathing room' for your reply. :-) This answer in their Mail help states that the "include original message with reply" approach is pretty much the only option they give you. (See their "note" at the bottom of that article.) If you don't like it being there, they make you manually remove it. Here's another test to try. Email your friend a message and mark it 'return reply' request. If your friend clicks on the 'reply' verification and you receive that notice, then the 'send' communication from his end is likely in order and the problem is elsewhere. Mistakes in email addresses (URL) can be subtle and hard to detect. Look for an extra space, a missing space, interchanged adjacent characters, a numeral one for lower case 'l' and vice versa, and case sensitive characters. I'm not sure how shift-space is handled these days, but I know of one very old system that made use of this character to beguile and mislead probers. The ASCII character, shift-space, is a distinct character and different than a plain 'space', yet both characters are displayed as a 'space'. When this is encountered in a code word, the easiest fix is to delete the word and re-enter the correct one rather than to hunt for hidden 'shift-spaces'.

The message you are seeing at the bottom of the email (PLEASE NOTE: The member responding to your post has chosen not to reveal his or her email address. Therefore, you cannot reply to this message via email) only means that you are not able to respond by clicking reply within your email account. However, there is a way to send them a response ... go to their 'My Page' and respond to them from there. Neither of you has to unblock your email address. You do not have to respond via email. If they are set up to be able to receive email, you can respond to them from their My Page the same way they emailed you. I noticed something that made me change my settings ... When you email someone, if they have their email revealed, GW will automatically show you the person's email address. Just in case any spammers ever come trying to harvest email addresses, I thought it would be a good idea to change my settings. Because I use my real, work email address in GW, not a fake throwaway address. Click the first link below and you will see an example of how you can see that person's email address. Typically, when I send a private message to someone using GW, I include my email address in the body of the message, so they can respond without having to search me out using My Page. But I can still keep my email address private within my settings. Making up a phone number when creating your email account is not a good idea since they use that number to contact you should there be an attack on your account or if you lost your info and they needed to resend it to you, they would be sending it to a phone number you can not reach to get that info and it could be someones actual phone number and they would be the one that got your critical information. You can instead give an alternate email address that is real where they can send you that information. I had that very thing happen recently with my gmail account, I accessed my account from an unknown, to them, device from a different state and it sent out an alert wanting to know if it was really me or if someone was trying to access my account. It was sent to my other email address that I provided, I was able to simply let them know it was me and it was a device I would be using. Had I provided my phone number they would have put out an automated call or text stating the same thing. There is an option to just skip that page and go on. Not everyone has a cell phone. Not everyone has texting. I believe that you can put in the phone number and request a call not text, then when you go into your account settings you can go in and remove the phone number, if it was set for text that option is not available or that is how it has been in the past for gmail. I set up a new yahoo account not long ago for one of my neighbors and was able to do so with out a cellphone because she does not have a cell phone. Yahoo has however been making so many changes and many are not for the better so it could have changed. So many people have left yahoo due to some of these changes.
