1. the leaves on a cereus are supposed to dangle over the pot... thats why they are mostly grown in hanging pots.... the new leaves will... over time... fatten up and stiffen up.... they will be ok... 2. the new buds from cuttings will come from the aeroles... or notches in the older leaves... this is perfectly normal... 3. i do not know what those are... but if they do not look like the other new leaves.. and the way i see them.. they are orange tint.... they could be buds... congratulations is they are... congratulation if they aint... just for getting this wonderful plant.... i hope i helped you out... Rose, your mom has been dealt a double whammy. Dealing with such severe vision loss and probable dementia is really difficult. My mom suffered from wet macular degeneration and lost quite a bit of her vision. The vision loss all by itself was upsetting but her dementia interpreted the shadows and blurry images in sometimes frightening ways. She was convinced that people were outside the bathroom looking at her. Her mind "filled in" for what her eyes could not see clearly. Unfortunately, her mind was not capable of reasoned thought. It was difficult to see my mom so anxious and troubled, to say the least. Sushipup gave you good advice. You need to talk to the staff about what she's experiencing and the implications of her vision loss. Sometimes care workers don't understand how vision loss can have such far reaching ramifications. You also need to talk to her doctor about your suspicions of sundowners.

Graham Thomas should get between 5-6 hours of sun there. Watering him should't be a problem but thanks for letting me know. My baby Abraham Darby (or Darling as my son calls it) throws a fit if I go more than a couple of days without watering him. Hopefully when the roots are better developed he'll toughen up a bit. Yes, all four spots should have plenty of room for them to grow.

Thanks Beverly. I'm not a fan of the wagon wheel style but I do love the middle 2 - my only concern is once again being the only light having a down light would not be good. Wouldn't the top shade cut down on the light coming fully into the room? I thought I would need multi-directional light - which I why didn't pick that style which I like. The top is too industrial. I've found a couple more simple styles chandeliers w less 'swoops'. It's an eat-in kitchen and the table goes right in the middle of room under the centered light. We're just going to be fancy farmers LOL! this is sort of the vibe. old style kitchen this layout w table in middle. But they added can lights. wow some interesting mix of styles!
