Gee, it has FINALLY slowed to just flurries! It is pretty to look at, but we have a strong north wind, so wind chills make it feel like about 20 degrees outside. Brrrrr. Thank you, summer, for reminding me that I need to thaw something out for dinner. :-) We were going to do a little shopping today, but I think we've decided to wait until tomorrow. DH has been working in his shop - ummmm, he's still trying to finish it, and we've only lived here 3+ years now... He just came in for lunch and is watching basketball, so I think I'll rearrange furniture in my office/spare bedroom. It's not a big overhaul because I don't have much room, but I've been wanting to tweak it a little. That means unhooking my computer and all of the associated stuff just to slide it a few feet. *sigh* But it seems like a good day to do it. BTW, I'm taking orders for snow. Let's see, ronm80 wants some and sable wants some. Any other takers? LOL!

We had the same kind of temperature drop - record temperatures of 80 on Wednesday and into the 20's by Friday night. Welcome to Nebraska, eh? Western and northern Nebraska had as much as 8 inches of snow, and as close as 2 hours west of us there was snow last week. We just barely missed it, but I'm now happily enjoying a belated fall. Sadly, I was out of town for the one single week that my Japanese maple decided to turn red. It must have turned and dropped all its leaves in that week, as it's now bare. Ah well, planning plenty of mulled cider and yes - hot herbal tea - for the weekend. Like Seil, we went from iced tea to hot cocoa overnight. It FINALLY feels like Thanksgiving, which means I'm allowed to stay inside and hibernate looking through rose catalogs now. All but a few hundred bulbs planted and that'll be done while the turkey cooks on Thanksgiving. I agree with you Carol - I wouldn't want a winter without some snow. I'm OK with not having any yet, since first snow is supposed to be a 1" dusting on Christmas Eve in my ideal scenario, but I'd miss snow if it weren't there. I'm surprised that North Texas got as cold as that so early in the winter, but that's the Central Plains for you I guess. Happy fall - finally! Cynthia

Julia and Brad, it snowed lightly again last night and we are in for more snow tonight into tomorrow, lasting all day. I think we're supposed to get another 5 inches. My guess is Julia you are getting more too. School has already been cancelled once and probably again tomorrow, which my grandsons love, but me, not so much.....they stay here with Gram and beg to go sledding....lol. I don't really know what the snow totals were from the last storm because there was already some snow on the ground from another front.....but it was enough that the ski areas are operating and this is the earliest they've opened with 'natural' snow. Our state and towns are expert at keeping the roads clear. They do an excellent job with the main roads. My road, not so much (because it's rural). It's supposed to get even colder mid-week with another blast of frigid temps. Stay warm everyone!

Brrrrrrrrr.:) You want the numbers to be clearly visible from the street. You could mount large black numbers under the light fixture to the left of the door, with the mailbox below that, or possibly white reflective numbers on the mailbox itself. You might want to get your lights on first and then stand back on the street to see what will be visible.
