I'd say that you have a nice brown widow spider there. They've become pretty common in some locations. Look for their messy, disorganized webs and very distinctive egg sacs. I have both black and brown widows in my garage upon occasion; I'd be overrun with them if we didn't do major cleanings and vacuuming pretty often. I also dust the nooks and crannies with horticultural grade diotomaceous earth.

I tried to get a picture from the top but she has her web on a slant so it's darn near impossible to get a shot. I don't want to tear her web up. They use up a lot of protein when they spin it.

Guys, I have a new roommate! Her name is Audrey. She is adorable.Audrey is a Phidippus audax jumping spider. I noticed her doing her rounds yesterday, hunting for any and all insect trespassers. I approve of her hard work. She hunted over around ten different plants, but most were in hard-to-photograph spots. So all the good photos I have of her are while she was on patrol on my Matucana madisoniorum. And Audrey is not a fan of the camera. Here you can see her signalling that she has had enough of it already.

Yes. There can be various situations causing these spiders to start a new web.
