What beautiful pictures! What camera is that taken with? LOVE IT! Your photo is so crisp and bright, was this a macro lens? I am new to this forum and to photography (learning now) and learning how to use my new camera. Thanks

That is so exciting for all of us! What a treasure you have, I can't wait to see the cats and follow your progress. I hope I might get some next year, they are posted on Journey North as being sighted just 50 miles directly south of me and then about 60 miles directly North of me. Thank you all for all the congrats and well wishes:) Grand total as it stands... 13 between my private garden and my job site gardens:-D. I found 5 more little hatchlings when I got home, just happened to see telltale damage on my incarnatas. I have yet to see a Monarch in flight, including the ELFs that laid these eggs. I did however, see an American Lady at both gardens. I think I'm going to have a butterfly season after all, and there will be 13 more of these rare beauties for the long trip home. Rhonda, thanks, but nothing ever got them inside the courtyard, because I spray for insects in there so they won't get in the house, and don't have a lot of lizards. I'm going to move my milkweed into pots inside the courtyard this fall so I can at least save a few babies. I'm so sad. I really had hoped for dozens of monarchs this year. I had 10 last year on only a few plants, but all of them are getting eaten this year. It's too heartbreaking to work so hard on something, just to see it all go up in smoke.

So am I. I cut a whole top of a common milkweed with a cat on it and there was just a stick left today. I have 2 cages with 2 cats and 1 potted tuberosa in each, and all the cats should pupate in the next couple days. Something's been eating my Viburnums and Pentas. I will have to investigate.

These were taken with the first digital camera I ever bought, an Olympus 3000(which is probably 10 years old by now), it has a macro mode on it, that I just love. I can get really close to the butterfly to take the photo. I am looking for a new camera though, this Olympus is slow, takes awhile for before I can snap the next photo and it uses smart media card, which are not available in stores anymore.

A good camera makes for a nice photo. A good subject makes a good photographer. Nice shots with your antique.
