Buried there, and killed at the same time as Billy Clanton, are McLaury, Robert Findley (Frank) and McLaury, Thomas Clark (Tom), all killed by the Earps, along with Doc Holliday. I do have pictures of their tombstones, but only a few others.

Also buried there is Claibourne, William aka Arizona's "Billy The Kid" and Indian Bill.

Opened in 1884, the cemetary has as many as 300 buried there, many lost to the elements.

Causes of death ranged widely and include: Killed by Indians, stabbed, drowned, hanged, smallpox, scarlet fever, nephritis, leprosy, Pneumonia, shot, murdered, Diphtheria, consumption, suicide, killed in a stampede, found in the bottom of a mine, and a few others.

Cemetary records list some other reasons for death which include:

Old prospector, killed in a blast.

Died of smallpox. A cowboy tied rope around his feet, and dragged him to his grave to avoid touching the body.

Died during a dispute over a cock-fight.

Was thrown from his horse, which caused his gun to go off, and hit him in the leg, but he did not seek medical attention soon enough.

A miner, was found dead in his cabin with bullet wounds.

Wife of restaurant owner, suspected poisoning.

Killed by Mexicans while driving a herd of stolen cattle.

Blown up from a blast.

Fell into a mine shaft.

Small boy died from drinking bad water.

Fell off a wagon and the wheel crushed his head.

Hanged by a lynch mob.

Injured his back after falling from stilts and died the next day.

Burned to death in hotel fire.

Operated a grocery store, accidentally stabbed by a friend.

Died of complications stemming from a shot in the lung.

Fractured his spine after falling off his horse while crossing the San Pedro River.

Young english miner died from bowel inflammation.

Found lying dead in a wagon outside of town.

Fell off a cliff.

Died while being operated on for stomach cancer.

Shot by his own rifle when it fell over and discharged.

Died in a duel.

Beaten in the face with a rock until he died, due to a dispute over a mining claim.

Killed because of the color of his shirt.

Stoned to death by indians.

Died after a well he was digging caved in.

The list goes on and on, but yes, a few did die of natural causes, and one living to be 98 years old. It is common for the killer of a person to be buried close to that person, after being hanged for the offense.

Thanks, Doris. Yes, the tombstone is definitely not original. The original tombstones have mostly deteriorated, or like the one that was in the place of the one above, was stolen by souvenier hunters...kind of sad...
